Is telecoms a good industry to go into?

I am a salesperson and have been offered a job with quite a reputable telecoms company. I was just wondering is the telecoms a good industry to go into? Is there a lot of money in it?

Btw, it is a b2b role.

Thanks!

It's a b2b telesales and field sales role where I will be selling to medium sized companies (telephone lines, systems, broadband, VoIP, fax to email etc)

Yes, it's an awesome industry to go into.

If you cans sell a couple of colocation deals a year them you'll be able to live off the commission alone, depending on your rates of course.

There so much stuff to sell you can pretty much satisfy anyone, I wouldn't worry too much about the small things like broadband and VoIP, geo numbers etc etc

Start concentrating on PBX systems and colocation, and keep your eye out for opportunities to talk with potential mvno clients, that's HUGE money if you can find them. That's if your company has the ability to set up an mvno of course.

I only know all of this because my biggest client is a telecoms firm, Big big money in that industry if you can work it right.

I don't think that within the scope of this role I'll be selling things like mvno's. It's a lot more basic than that as described earlier. Do you still think I can make good money? My main focus will be contacting medium sized companies and selling them lines and broadband.

      Thanks.

I'm not really sure what the commissions are like on those smaller items, I just know that there is huge money in the larger services.

Commissions are smaller but on the other hand there is a lot more market for them so as long as you offer either a superior service or a cheaper price than your competition then you should be able to make some decent money.

I'm not a salesman I just know the market.
