One of the off-liners here in the forum is making big moves in the growing marijuana industry--not just local shops but at the state government level.

CBS News says the annual revenue in the industry will go from $2.5 billion to $10 billion in only a few years.

I'm curious if anyone is working with local shops or distributors.

    I have a friend that's intimately involved in this industry. He builds out the massive commercial grow facilities.

    Once recreational use was made legal in my state I was sure that local shops would greatly desire my services. You know stuff like SEO and site design but I was in for a surprise!

    Shops with zero online presence and or with NO web site have lines of new customers that reach half way around the block.

    They do not need our services in the least and can't be bothered to deal with web design or any sort of online marketing, they can't handle the demand they have right now.

    I think it will be a year or longer before this changes.

    I am dealing with a now growing number of business' that provide home delivery of the product - for those that don't want to hangout in lines around the block.

    One of my first clients is one of the marijuana industry. Best client ever, really.

    He has a dispensary now, but before he also sold grow tents, lights, ferts, etc. He still does sell all that stuff. 2 years ago he set up a state sponsored grow operation that the media never reported on, it was massive. He's also done grow operations for alfalfa sprouts, and other crops too.

    From what I can tell, the money in this industry (for us) is in nutrients, events, tents, and lighting.

    Interesting, seems like a market that is changing. I can imagine that as legal boundaries come down, competition will increase and businesses like these will have more of a need to diversify their leads with the internet.

      Competition won't increase any time soon as the requirements for actually becoming a recreational seller are pretty strict versus just opening a more mainstream business.

      The licensing is pretty strict. One doesn't have to get a 20K surety bond to open a clothing, or convenient store, nor undergo a background check, or submit drawn floor plan details, and a whole bunch of other stuff. lol
