Click-to-Call functionality on mobile sites dead as a selling point?

Hey,

don't all smart phones nowadays, by default, allow you to call numbers by just clicking on whatever number text on the screen? Hasn't this eliminated the selling point of this "Click-to-Call button" feature for mobile sites developers?

You are looking at it the wrong way !
Though it is not as big as it once was when it first came out but it is still a great feature that I use to this day !

There is so many ways to get your foot in the door !

What I look for is someone that need two services that I am offering .Example mobile site, & social media marketing, etc.

I sometimes simple just walk into a place and out with a sale without a appointment . I do this very often .. Just look for someone that need to of your services and 1 of them that need to be fixed right away !

Then head in there like it's a emergency! They need to fix this "Right Now" if not just close the doors because money is shooting out the window and they will not be able to compete with there "biggest competition"

Give them the second service for free if they fix the first one right now ! Tell them you are not coming back there and they need to act right now if not then their competition has a appointment tomorrow with you and then they will be up against you instead of working with you !

Just do not except a no for a answer !

I hope that this helps you and gives gets your mind wondering to come up with a strategy that fits for you ..

Thanks for your input ATAC... I know what you mean.

What I actually meant is that I should not use something like the following, for example, in my selling script: "right now, people can't just call your business through a click of a button... they need to manually type in your number.... but with this click-2-call button.... it is made easier... blabla..."

Correct? I need to approach another way.

I put a big-ass Call Us button, so anyone, no matter how small their screen or fat their fingers, won't have a hard time calling you.

I dare you to find a site that has the phone number on the homepage. In general desktop sites are not designed like that. So its not a matter of the benefit being dead, just less clicks ( on average ) You put the click to call button in front of their face they will use it!

The other aspect of Mobile, is the ability to give instant driving directions. This is just one of those things. Click, and they are being told how to get to your customers store. If you are not working with a platform that allows for this, you better look for another platform.

I have even been working with a few clients with redirect of sorts that states at the top, "Show this screen at checkout get 15% off." So the customer comes in and shows the client, "look I got here using your mobile map"

My way of thinking is this, if you are NOT programming a separate Mobile site, you are doing a dis service to your client, and yourself. It is extremely powerful at getting feet through the door!

why wouldnt anyone want click to call enabled? its handy.

mobiles sites need to be very simple. click to call, phone, address/map, HOURS OF OPERATION!!!!! (that is a big one missing on many), social media link, email etc.. Put all the basic info on the home page.
