"Here's what I'm teaching my kids about offline marketing & business..."

Hey,

A few years ago I was in barnes and nobles and stumbled
across something called a "legacy book".

I had no idea what it was, so I thumbed through it and
discovered one of life's little gems.

Basically a legacy book is a blank workbook with hundreds
of questions that your mother/father/grandmother...etc.
would answer over the course of 12 months.

Side Note: If you are still blessed to have your parents or
grandparents with you, then you should definitely invest the
$10-$20 to get their life story from their perspective.

Anyway, I quickly purchased two legacy books and shipped
them off to my parents and they filled them out for me.

And it's been eye-opening to see how much history they
have lived through.

But it wasn't until recently that I realized I wanted to
share the same gift with my kids.

Except I'd be the one filling out the book for them.

So, over the past few months, I've been compiling my
personal thoughts, philosophies, life experiences along
with a list of must-read business, religious and political books.

In today's notes, I wrote a log entry that I believe will
help you also:

The entry was based on this:

"In most cases, true innovation is risky business and takes
too long to hit critical mass even when it's successful.

Don't focus on innovation unless it's your life's mission as it
will likely take most of your life to get it off the ground.

Stand on the shoulders of other successful consultants
and business leaders and model their success to create
your own little shortcut to success."

*End Entry*

However, until my sons are old enough to grasp the
words and concepts in that paragraph, I'll teach my
sons like this:

"Always start by selling what people are already buying,
then branch out into testing other things you think might
enhance their purchase or compliment their initial purchase.

"Secondly, make it a priority to seek out and find other
successful people who are ahead of you and ethically model
only what they are ethically doing to accomplish that success."

See, those two concepts have been life-changing for me in
my consulting business and I'm sure they will serve my
sons well.

See you at the top,

Chris

Great post. I totally agree with the idea of surrounding yourself with other successful people because success only breeds success and failure...well you know the rest.
