I'm one of the old timers who doesn't come around here very often, but found a little time on my hands this evening to read through some of the threads. A universal theme here seems to be "how to get new clients". Here's what I've been doing for several years, never over the phone, always in person. Haven't had to do it in a while, but it's the one thing that has worked consistently.

"Here's my business card with my email address. What is the one keyword you'd like to rank for in your business? Send me 6 images for your business and 6 bullet points about your business to this email address and I'll put together a video for you and get it ranked on page one of YouTube for that keyword."

Usually around 3-4 out of 10 are intrigued enough to follow through. It costs me nothing to create the video other than an Animoto Account and a little time. The only real cost from there is paying for views over at Fiverr at 3 for $10.00 or $3.33 each.

When I was building up my list of clients, I was usually doing about 15 or 20 of these per week. I would optimize and pay for the views and because the competition is usually weak, was able to rank every time. Still do.

Picked up an average of three to four new clients per month doing this one thing. Once they made contact and wanted to move to the next level, it was simply a matter of LISTENING. If you really LISTEN, you'll not only find out what their needs are, but if you listen for the right things, you'll also know what to charge. Any videos that did not lead to new clients, I simply deleted.

And by the way. Don't put any new or potential client in a box and try to sell them a "package". Listen to what they want, come up with a price that works for the both of you, create a paypal monthly subscription button that allows them to leave at any time. No contracts. If you're worth your salt, you won't have to worry about retention.

Just a few thoughts this evening and suggestions to those who might need a little help getting rolling.

Hope that helps a few of you out. Thanks to this thread and those that contribute. Was a big contributor to my early success. Greg Tucker

    Thanks for sharing.

Keyword - "Greenville SC Fence Company" is ranking 17 on page 2.

Keyword - "Spartanburg SC Fence Company" currently ranking 3rd on page 1.

What fee do you suggest to charge monthly? What do you charge when video falls off page One?

I focus mostly on website rankings and videos. All of my services are offered as a monthly residual, no up front costs and no contracts. Typical account is one website, 5 videos and Google + Local. Average is around $600.00 per month. I have some clients with as many as 30 videos and multiple websites in multiple cities. Biggest client currently paying me $1450.00 per mo.

I'm a little confused here......Are you saying you "rank" their video in YouTube for their chosen keyword?

I get that this is a clever way to get them engaged enough to actually talk to you about their REAL needs (so you can ultimately sell them one website, 5 videos and Google + Local), but man...it's hard to believe people are really that gullible.

Not trying to be a jerk here, I'm genuinely interested in what their reaction is?? Like do they give you push-back, or do they just not question it and move into a deeper conversation?
