Does Offline Marketing Work For Websites/Blogs?

I have a new blog(2 weeks old) that gets all of its traffic from Facebook at the moment...it's growing at a decent rate(average 300 hits a day), but I want to build an audience as quickly as possible. I am working to expand my social media presence(twitter, pinterest, google+ etc), but other than that I don't have any idea where to market my blog online.

I know where my target market hangs out in the real world, and the blog is a local niche(well relatively... it encompasses a whole state).

Would offline marketing methods prove effective?

My current ideas are:
-Handouts
-Flyers
-Car Decal(back window)
-Local Magazine/Journal Ads(related to my blog)

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

I think you may be forget about your blog / website title. It needed here. I see your average hit 300 per day. I think it is good and possible to increase it as soon. You can choose offline marketing for your website / blog. I think it is the best solution for increasing visitor. You can choose blog commenting, forum posting, and SEO work. It will help you to increase your website ranking. So i will suggest you, you can choose offline marketing for your website. Thanks..

The title of the blog is Adventures In WA... I won't add a link because I don't want to spam this site.

Basically the topics i'm hoping to cover are:
-Reviews of local businesses(zip line tours, kayaking excursions, rock climbing centers etc)
-Reviews of local hikes, climbs, dives etc
-Top 10 lists(Best hikes, best beaches, etc)
      -Unique places
      -Get aways etc

I have been doing SEO work, and have a program set on my sight. I am ranking well in SEO so far, but I have only been indexed by google at this time. (only receiving a few hits here and there).

Because it is local and my target is my state only I have been having a hard time finding relevant online marketing lines.

Do you have any suggestions on what may work best for this type of blog?

I would look at Chamber of Commerce in a few different areas Tri Cities, The Gorge, Spokane, Seattle The Peninsula etc. Depending on where you have articles written for. Many times if you have a few articles for a region and you write the Chamber, they may include a link to your site. ( I have done this in the past )

There are some tricks when you are first starting out. You want to write the articles in "Series" you want to across ay 3 or 4 days drop 5 or 6 articles about a single area. It takes some work getting everything all written first. But once you get in the pattern of doing it, its pretty simple.

What this will do for your seo is a couple of things. As long as you have "Pagenation" turned on, your "LIKE" articles will all be linked together. You cross linking will not only match in a sense because of the link itself but the content across those pages.

I take this even further myself and will write a 6 page series on a single subject. Ad I roll those out once a week. I actually publish the articles backwords Last one first, and then the First in the series last. This allows for the "First" post to be an overview of the series and links to all the other posts. The other benefit in this is if you have your "recent" Posts listed, the articles will fall in order 1 then 2 then 3 etc!

        Hope that Helps!

I LOVE your ideas, the series suggestion is brilliant. I'm going to try to launch the first one by next week. That will help focus the blog and like you said, link the "Like" articles together.

I should have enough content on my website by the end of the summer to ask the local chamber of commerce for a link to my website.

If you could at the very least tell me what area is local to you, I might be able to help you a bit more. For some guy in WV to be able to list a couple cities in WA might suggest I might know a bit about your market.

Take advantage of building circles in Google+; grab local listing in Google + Local for any physical addresses that you will have locations in; get a list of at least 20 local online business directories in your target area and make sure you are listed on each one.

I Would Highly Recommend Using The University Magazine Ad Placements Through Newspaper Classified Advertising at Affordable Rates I Think This Might Be And Excellent Source Of Advertising For Somthing Like This, There Prices Are Fairly Good Too.

It covers all of Washington State(Not DC). I think the max it takes to get from one side of the state to another is 4 hours, so you could go anywhere in Washington for a weekend trip… To me it's a small area, but I've also been traveling across the US for the past 3 years.

I'll look into all the Universities throughout Washington and see about how much it costs to advertise with them. That would be a good marketing lead to look into… I know I want to find a way to market to college kids across the state, that age range is showing the most interest so far.

Sponsoring events is a good idea. You can sposor University events in exchange for stuff with your brand in it. It would be wise to contact commercial establishments in your state and offer them to have their business featured in your 'directory' or blog in exchange for placing your flyers on their front desks.

If I were you I would focus on building engaging content. People go online to discover amazing things offline, not likely the other way around. Unless you're offering something of value or would somehow give you an ROI on your site, then it might be worth considering...

Absolutely. If you studied TV commercials today, you'd be surprised about how many are advertising websites. Even Google are advertising on TV now, the company that have made billions from persuading people to do PPC and measure results.

On the subject of measuring results, this is the problem with offline i.e it's difficult. Nevertheless, depending on your product or service, it can be very effective.

Hi , and I think, well done! for keeping it real. However many hours we spend focusing on the computer screen; we come away feeling somehow real life is still going on out there.I think it's vital to keep our good eye-to-eye communication skills alive.People generally like to hear you tell them enthusiastically how well your business is going.Being enthusiastic isn't hard to do particularly if you have a catchy and well written flier to hand them.I like all your ideas and just this week have come to the same conclusion, (and list of ideas!) People are naturally curious about a car banner display, and another thing to try if you have time is a short but to the point survey, maybe asking folks whether they would like to earn extra money using their computer and whether they have had any ideas about that, any experience.Ask their permission to send them things of interest by email if they like to hear more.
I have had considerable success with this method.Build relationships, people will trust you once you have talked face to face, and the leads you gather will be ones you have personally endorsed your product or opportunity to.It's just great , talking to people this way.Cheers.

Thank you. The whole idea came from life experience. Growing up I was ALWAYS the one coming up with what to do and planning the adventures… I loved exploring and trying new things… and I knew how to look for new ideas.
That was the whole point of this blog, a way to expand my reach. I HATE how people always complain about "There is NOTHING to do"… so I wanted to provide the inspiration and ideas for everyone to enjoy.

I know eventually this blog will take off, especially once I have more content and build a website around it… and I'm ok with it building slower now that I've realized how much work I have to do. I wanted to just do a blog, but I think that expanding it to a full blown website with the blog being more focused on my experiences, and top 10 lists might be a better idea.

I'm setting up a marketing budget for once I make some more headway with the website aspect, but I do believe the personal endorsements and interacting with the community in person is what's going to make this website a true success.

I will still use social media as a way to spread the word and keep fans engaged, but I do believe offline is going to be a great way for me to build relationships. I know where my target market is in the real world, and interacting with them will be way more effective than an advertisement online.
