How To Promote An Air-Conditioning Company??

Hey guys,

I've been asked to help promote my friends business as I do internet marketing, so I've agreed to give it a shot, the thing is I normally deal with individual people, this is going to be selling a service to businesses.

It's an air conditioning maintenance, repairs and installation company and the normal customer base is companies, both big and small.

My trouble as you may have already guessed it that I'm not sure where to source traffic for such a business?

Also how to deal with that traffic? I mean I'm considering sending it to a basic, small website where they can ask for a quote or just contact for pricing etc.

Is that the best thing to do? I'm not sure?

I've been trying to do some research online but it's pretty tricky to work out what's going to work.

It would be very valuable to me if anyone can offer any pointers on this.

I look forward to your replies.

Thanks,

Fred

Are you strictly doing internet marketing or will you be doing offline marketing too?

If online marketing, check out Claude Whitacre's book "Local Online Marketing."

If doing offline (postcards, ads in papers, etc.) then send then to a website with a video or free report. Be sure to include an offer and call-to-action.

You mentioned you are an internet marketer which is why your friend asked to let you help him. What's your expertise in internet marketing since it's a pretty big sphere? SEO? PPC? SMM?

The answer on where to send the traffic depends on above. If it's a PPC or social media ad then send them to a landing page. If it's organic traffic then send them over to the company site with opt-in/call offers.

Normally, the best way is a good referral campaign, where OLD customers refer new people to his business.

ONline, he needs to be found. It is an as needed business, repairs and maintenance as well as new installations. The businesses will normally get a few quotes OR THEY HAVE A DEFAULT GO-TO GUY FOR this.

You might want to consider contacting his current customers, get some testimonials and offer them an incentive ... maybe a cash reward if they permit contact from a new company.

It seems you need to be a good SEO expert for your area and for this trade in particular.

Almost anything could help an AC company. A referral program could be a good idea.

It is true though, you need to get them into doing SEO and start ranking for them to get clients. Going for tougher but broader keywords like "air conditioning (city)" can be harder to rank but worth their weight in gold for the client.

You see imho opinion it's not online. This needs to be much more offline. Going to business, demonstrations, networking etc...

    IM isn't suited to everything.

You could check out this thread, pm Johnny: http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-marketing/949247-generating-new-customers.html

You could go to condo buildings and convince the powers-to-be to let you post your add in their lobby.

You could do EDDM (every door direct marketing).

You could have them join a chamber of commerce and be active there, maybe even host chamber events at their office.

You could publish ads in the local paper, the one that reports all the crimes in the neighborhood.

    You could run radio ads.

You could rank a site for them.

You could partner with one of those Sally's Maids Service, pay a referral fee.

You could get them back some of their lost customers.

You could get them to answer the phone better.

You could hire a high school drop out to go vandalize condensers then drop door hangers in the neighborhood thus vandalized... Better yet, just drop flyers / door hangers.
