Good Local Marketing Program/Coach?

Hi. I am hoping some of the forum can help me.

I had an profitable website design business that slowly went down back when the economy had problems around 2008-2009. I lost several customers and now only have about three.

I am looking to get my business built back up.

Could anyone please recommend a program/person that teaches local marketing in the following:
client acquisition, local seo, google plus, local social media, client retention, client upsells, and pricing of products.

I really do want to do it all myself. So No Outsourcing. I already know how to design sites, I need brushing up on seo especially for local sites, and how to correctly price products. I always seemed to under price myself in the past.

Please note that I do not want the "build a local directory" or "rent out a site" to get customers. I would like to learn other methods.

I apologize if this post is long but I really need to build this business back up and need to learn from a reputable person about local marketing.

Thank you
Dany

Scott Gallagher (member here) is good. Here is his site:

Local Marketing - Small Business Internet Marketing - Local Internet Marketing

I am not affiliated - except in the 6 degrees of separation sort of way.

    • Hi Dany,

Yes I think Scott's would be good and goes into client acquisition, retention, pricing and everything, so is probably the most comprehensive.

My training is advanced and only for consultants that already have quite a bit of hands on experience managing G+ Local accounts and want to get to the next level. I don't have a beginner course and also don't go as much into detail on the business building aspects. Mine is more about the nitty gritty ranking, avoiding the G+ L landmines and troubleshooting type issues.

    Hi Dany,
We built an offline business from the ground up and the online environment has changed so much that the continuous learning curve to do things correctly for clients is very challenging. It is getting more difficult to master all areas of online marketing to deliver results.

While it is a good idea to understand what is required and how things work, you have to make a decision whether you want to work "in" your business or "on" your business to grow it. It may be better to focus on what you do best and partner with others to deliver a total solution. You may find out that when going it alone, you cannot handle that many clients and still be effective. Also, selling to keep the pipeline full which delivering services can feel like trying to change a tire while driving 80 mph!

    Some tips:
    1. Start in smaller, less competitive towns (Easier to rank)
    2. Pick a niche and focus on it (Dentists and Plastic surgeons have the money and will pay higher fees) Lawyers are extremely competitive and can be a challenge to get results without PPC. Cost per click for personal injury is astronomical.
    3. Build a brand and market it.

We published a book, Niche Dominance, Creating order out of your digital marketing chaos. It was written for local business owners and explains digital marketing for local businesses. I have a PDF version and can give you a copy. It is a little dated (published last year) but it will still be helpful. You can PM me or if you don't mind joining our list, I have a bonus report on how we build our business and a copy of the book. Go to: Achieving Niche Dominance

Either way, I'll give you a copy of the book.

As I'm in FL, PM me and we can have a Skype or phone call to help you get started.

    All the best,
    Vito

  • My good buddy Nathan has a blog with a ton of cool content on all of these topics, so you may not even need a coach.

If you're looking to brush up on SEO (or sales, or marketing, or business in general), I regularly read up on his Local and Organic SEO posts all the time... I've been an avid follower since getting his WSO and I stumbled upon www.incomebully.com and voila. presto. life was awesomer. haha, check it out and see if it helps you any.
