Tips on how to get a job working for a successful offline marketer or IM/SEO company?

It has been recommended to setup sites and social media for free for a business or two or go to odesk and other freelance sites to get offline marketing work if you are just getting started and need to build a portfolio.

Does anyone have recommendations on how to get an hourly job or two working for a successful offline marketer or IM/SEO company business when you are new and don't have much experience?

Find people who are working in those companies - go to linkedIn, networking events, business events etc...

Then follow what I described here today: http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...endations.html

Seriously, you can get any job you like very quickly.

It's amazing how many marketers on here and even on Linkedin are in need of all kinds of marketers to help them out with their marketing. It could be your stepping stone to seeing how the offline industry works, and you could see how to do SEO or anything you want to learn

I too would recommend linkedin and even here.

Getting an ordinary hourly job will help you make some moolah as you find your niche in this big online world of "making money online."

Thanks for the input... ok, I'm definately going to start looking for marketers and small marketing companies on linkedIn, networking events, business events, forums, etc.

Yes, the hourly or salary part is what I need while learning the ropes, so we don't go hungry.

How badly do you want it?

I have some unorthodox methods that have been very successful in creating roles for me where I was the only candidate--because there was no job before I got there.

But it takes effort. The turnaround can be very quick, with my best being less than a week. You have to quickly create some material, though.

First thing to do is become very clear about what you want. "An SEO or social media job" isn't clear enough.

Yes. I definitely need to define what job I want, and was already looking at different job titles and services out there, so I can figure out the best one for me. Then I was planning to practice a little by setting up a quick website or squeeze page / some related social media profiles, and getting some traffic to it that would boost my credibility.

What are the "unorthodox methods" and "material" that you mentioned?

Get clear on what you really want, write it here and we'll discuss it further.

Normally that information is part of an $1100 job hunt program I privately offer for executives who want to get the right role next--not just any role.

Thanks Jason. I'm going to focus on getting clear on what I want... the problem is, I just don't have the experience to do what I want... I'm willing to start at the bottom and do grunt work... I just need to find a way to sell my little bit of experience.

I know I want a jr/intern/entry level digital marketing job... where I can do wordpress basics and mods, do FB, Youtube, and white hat seo marketing, which will probably include content writing.

Is this what you mean by getting clear on what I want?

          Thanks.
