Bad Facebook Review Removal !!!

Hey Warriors

I have a client, that has a VERY bad Facebook review from one of their ex business partners, it was clearly done out of spite and not even a true review about the business. We are having trouble getting this removed and off the site. Has anyone dealt with this type of issue and had success?
Please advise....Thanks

You can check out this video and it will tell you how you can remove the ratings on the page and not allow anyone to review it. This is temporary, so at least other people won't be able to see the ratings until you've gotten it fixed with FB. youtube.com/watch?v=sazQBQvAbBQ

But, to answer your question, I don't have any experience dealing with removal of the review. I figure you would have to e-mail/call support. Good luck!

Facebook reviews? Where did they leave a review?

It's really easy to remove the bad reviews found on the front page of Google by simply making more and more sites to outrank those bad review sites, but for Facebook, it is a completely different position and situation.

Reviews I notice are usually discovered on review sites, so bad reviews on Facebook seem like something I haven't heard of before. Hopefully other warriors on here know about this.

With the new look to Facebook Pages, the Review Section is very prominent and we need to get this removed ASAP.

Yeah, if the review is not truthful then lawyer up and sue the shit out of the guy.

Or... bury it with positive reviews.

Even if it's not truthful you may not be able to get it removed, even with legal action. Peoples opinions are many times not based in fact and are therefor considered untruthful but are still protected by the first amendment.

I think what you have to prove is liable? I think that's the term!
That can be costly as well but legal action can remedy that.

Burying the review by implementing a campaign to get more reviews usually have a better outcome for the business overall and that's what I just go for like Nameless said.

I think that's the best tactic. We had a bad review on Amazon written by "anonymous"...who was actually a competitor. Complained to Amazon but they refused to remove it. The worst thing we could have done was to comment on it and give it more exposure. Best thing was to instead point to the positive reviews and increase their exposure by linking to them in various places, using "onlywire" to share them to various social networks, etc. In other words, "bury" the bad (fake) review.

Is that Facebook review on a high traffic page? Does it show up in google searches for your business partner's products/services?

Libel would be the term, but even when it comes to opinion and reviews you have to be careful how you state your opinion. You do have your first amendment right (for now) but if your right infringes on someone elses rights, then there's the legal problem.

You are absolutely right though, chances are even with legal action you won't get the review removed, but I was talking more about damages and not review removal. If it was the previous business partner, then I think there are other issues legally, like conflict of interest, libel, intentionally harming the business, plus if he left I'd hope there was some kind of exit contract, and if so, then he is probably in breech of that contract.

If that were a situation I was in, I'd work on burying the review, and would also sue the ex partner.

Generally when I teach business owners, there are 4 ways to deal with reviews on different sites, but here is what I would normally do (and have done)...

If you know for certain, not speculation, that it is a false review and is in California (which you are located) - and they are a competitor (assuming ex-business partner now is)..you have an attorney contact them. There is a great code section dealing with Unfair Business Practices (applies to false reviews by competitors) which allows for attorneys fees and if written correctly usually gets the job done.

If they are not a competitor, then a similar technique, siting libel, damages, etc.

BUT...and it's a BIG BUTTTT, make sure there is proof and made sure the letter is written in such a way that if it gets posted on the internet it makes your client look good and the reviewer look bad - it's a combination of art and copywriting.

We're actually been successful by a nice call as well....Hi, this is "The Shark", we have this A B and C proof that you posted this and it's false, before we respond, wanted to give you 24 hours to get it down before before we do legal action and it causes you problem D, E, and F.

If it were me and an ex business partner even BREATHED a word about the business of which we were BOTH a part at one time, I'd have my attorney bring down the hammer on him if for nothing else, principal.

Principal aside...... I think a "love letter" from your attorney would probably persuade him to remove the post.

We TheChiropractors advice and took down the Map and Reviews. Then will look into taking legal action. We tried to bury it with other reviews but it kept showing as the top review.
