I have a question....
Has anyone tried posting their offline services on a daily deal site? (like Woot, Groupon, etc...)
I figured it could be a way to get a ton of new business.

I understand people shop on there to get cheap deals. And I know the horror stories of small businesses practically going broke with cheapskates flooding into the doors.

But I figure (for example, please don't grill me on this) if someone sells a mobile site for $500 they could do it for $99. (example only)
Figure if 1000 small business owners saw this and 10 people said yes, that's a quick $990 in your pocket (less fees) you would make.

Once that is done you could up-sell these business owners on other services.
So has anyone tried this and if so with what sites have you used?

    Here is a useful thread.

You'll see that although it was a cheap groupon deal, only 3 people took it up.

Personally, I wouldn't use groupon for that purpose, because I don't want cheapskate customers. But each to their own I suppose.

I would think that maybe groupon wouldn't take your service if you're too new . And also if you have a really cheap deal and tons of people take it you'd be selling yourself short. I think those kind of similar sites would be great to get leads for bigger projects. Maybe things like books would work or something that could link you to them without having to sell yourself short.

    Best of luck!
