The Mystery Behind Getting Big Brand Clients

I was asked this week by a consulting client on how I got
Puma and the country's largest beer brewer division as clients
for my paper receipt business.

Thought I'd tell you as it might surprise you...
it happened by doing things we often talk about on this forum.

Puma was a cold walk in to their retail store.

Lion Foundation was a cold phone call.

In both cases we had not even a name to work with
little lone a referral.

For many, having big brands as clients seems out of reach or
glamorous, however just plain boring grunt work enlisted them.

From the not so glamorous Ewen.

I know a guy who got Disney as a client to print some of their t-shirts.

He called and called and called and called. Took him MONTHS to get in.

And now he's had the business for many years.

    Grunt work outflanks fancy tricks.

Funny thing about this guy, he's somewhere between 55 and 60 now...rich as you could want to be...and every time I see him he's wearing a track suit and carrying a beer cooler.

Fortunately for us, it didn't take that long of a cycle before they said yes.

And now they just keep calling, and calling and calling me.

Just sent off an email to my Puma contact to see if there is an opportunity to get into their USA stores.
You never know unless you ask.

      Best,
      Ewen

      P.S. Just got his reply...

      "I'll try to find out!
How about our 8 OZ stores?"

I love this! For me this speaks volumes about the power of just getting out there and connecting with people. At the end of the day these brands are run by people just like you and I. These people need help just like your local business down the road.
