Hi,

I'm researching for information about lead generation. I need your help guys.
I am looking into providing leads to some other businesses and would like to know how much to charge, how I can have the leads tracked? What are the software (free or paid) that is use to track leads? I would like to know how much is the going rate for leads, like for instance for business like 'electrician'. How can I collect this information guys? Your answers will be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

For price, service magic/home advisor are, I believe, quite open about their rates. They tend to sell the lead to 4 companies. I'm still in the process of starting my attempt at this up, but general advice I have seen tends to be see what service magic are charing, then add $10 as exclusive. This isn't a hard and fast rule, but it helps get a price in your mind for the first one or two sites and then you can tweak from there (from what I can tell, probably upwards)

Re tracking, for the most part people use call forwarding from the likes of call fire from what I have seen. You can then have a report on the numbers and duration of calls. If you do decide to put a capture form on the page have it set up to send to both you and the client (contact for 7 on wp can handle this).

The best thread I have read on the subject, and that got me interested initially, was this one

    http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...will-help.html

Like I said I'm just starting, and making mistakes as I go (paid $50 on PPC and $30 on FB ads for no conversions, so now I know I need to change my site up to get it to convert) - so take my advice with a pinch of salt. There are some very knowledgeable guys like (iirc) MRomeo, IAmNameless and Dan McCoy who may be able to advise better than me.

Thank you for the reply. Can you also tell me where I can find the going rate for leads for the businesses like 'electricians' and 'plumbers'? What I am going to do in order to find the rate of those leads?

Honestly, I'm not sure. My advice would be to talk to some plumbers and sparkies, just be blunt and ask them the question. I'm working in the construction niche to begin with and called a few companies to see what might interest them. Had some good advice on what they would want from a lead, what they might pay.

At the moment I've set up a site with a number and spent some money on PPC, which has failed. Looking at it, it's pretty obvious my landing page wasn't good enough so I'll be working on that over the weekend. Which is my way of saying I'm not an expert here, hopefully someone else will be able to chime in.

For what it's worth another good thread on the system is

I'm ploughing through that at the moment.

For pricing, i use a simpel rule of thumb.....for a start in negotiation, If price matters to the customer.

Take the cost of the adwords fx 2 dollars a click for towing in california and Add a factor between 10 and 15. Thats my Price for exclusive towing leads in Big cities, meaning between 20 and 30 dollars.

To be fair, my prices are backed up by highend management Consulting, when I use a retaincall, once a month...

      Regards, Lasse

First you have to sit down with your client and define what a lead is or what they expect.
Are they looking for phone calls,or walk ins or are they looking for contact info!
This is important so you will know how much to charge them per lead..

Most of all you have to make it very clear that you are in the lead business not the sale business and that is their job to turn the lead into a sale ..

Response time is critical when collecting leads as they cool down very fast...

Then you have to decide how you are going about collecting the data if its a local business then you may want to use facebook or mobile ? If its international then its wide open...

There is many different ways to track everything but first you must know what kind of leads they are going to want !

    Hey,

I searched Google and found this service that has a team of professionals who will actually track and manage your leads for you.

They seem like a very reputable company and they do have support if you have any questions for them. Personally, I have never used their services, but I read the homepage and it does sound like it would be worth it.

    Hope this helps out!

I have an account with homeadvisor.com it is for a kitchen cabinet maker. The price depends on the specific job they want done.

    for example in my area
    build custom cabinets $34.50
    reface already installed cabinets $18.50
install stone slab counter tops $34.97
    install premade cabinets 29.64

as you can see they base the fee on their expectation of the project cost, the bigger the project the higher the cost

The problem is that i get a lead for reface already installed cabinets and it is a guy with ONE broken drawer and we charge him $25 and the lead cost 18.50

I kinda reverse engineer this. Instead of selling businesses leads, I created a Lead Generation System for the business owner. Landing Pages, Sales Funnels and Follow Up Systems. Then charge them a fixed monthly rate to create and maintain the leads. By doing this, we are cutting out the Lead Gen companies and give the business more control.

that's a fantastic way to create a lead gen business =)
cut the actual lead count out and develop a system that they can use.

Love this idea. Local businesses have no clue on how to setup a funnel. Are you doing this for their own website or are you creating one for them? Also are you sending them traffic or just relying on their own site traffic?

      Thanks!

I agree... this has worked well for me and my sales team to go out and offer a complete done-for-you service on a subscription basis. I pay my guys a percentage of the sale, and keep the rest... and we have a template ready to turn on for each new client we bring in.
