Anyone using fax broadcasting to get new customers?

With the huge amount of emails received daily I wonder if anyone is considering using fax broadcast to deliver their message to customers or potential customers?
If so what do you recommend to send the faxes out in terms of software?

In the USA, the FCC says: "The rules provide that it is unlawful to send unsolicited advertisements to any fax machine, including those at both businesses and residences, without the recipient's prior express invitation or permission. Fax advertisements, however, may be sent to recipients with whom the sender has an EBR, as long as the fax number was provided voluntarily by the recipient."

Where EBR stands for established business relationship.

I wouldn't do it, if I were you.

One of my clients would constantly get solicitations by fax. And ALWAYS, without fail, he would get angry.

It's free to receive spam email. But every time someone sends you a fax, YOU have to pay for it to be printed.

I'm not saying that it wouldn't work AT ALL. You may get a few bites - you may get a TON. But if it's illegal, then I'd avoid it.

I am in Ontario, wonder if this would be a legal issue here as well?
I do get few advertising faxes now and then so I thought it was legal here.

It may not be illegal in Canada.

This page is advising people to get on the "do not call" list to stop getting "junk faxes", so that implies that it's legal. But you should look into the law yourself, as I can't really give legal advice. Especially not for someone in another country.

I'm in the UK, and I don't think it's illegal here.

But if you do find that it's legal in Canada, make sure that your faxes are well-targeted, with a powerful, personalised relevant script - Because I do imagine that they'll probably pee a lot of people off lol.
