How much does a good telemarketer cost & where to find them?

I'm looking for an experienced telesales person. I thought odesk and elance were the way to go, but I read on a bunch of sites that I would not find high quality sales people there.
Is this true? If so, where can I find a good US based telesales person?

What is a good pay for a telemarketer? I'm selling a $1000 per month service. I was thinking about $10-$15 and a $150 commission per sale ($300 commission for customers who pay quarterly). Is that a fair price?

I too like freelancing sites for finding providers like telemarketers. I have found success on Craigslist and more recently sourced some long term help via Fiverr believe it or not. I also find that it's easier to source quality leads there. I budget like $50 try a few providers and I'm only $50 for 10 tries.

    great question.
I do nightlife marketing coaching, so my clients can make some serious money, allowing me to charge a good chunk having a phone call in 'may' add to my lead generation nicely. will have to test that.

anyone else have a go at outsourcing telemarketers (other than the big local companies that will charge an arm and a leg)? I'll keep an eye on this thread! =)

There is lots of place you can find good US based telemarketer. My personal advice will be hire someone local and interview them. Ask them to call for few days and see how they close the deals.

This process take lots of time.

Some online telemarketer firm re-sell your leads to someone who is proving similar services.

    Hope this help.

    Hey,

I am not certain of the exact cost of what one would be, but I would recommend you check out Elance.

You can find workers there who do work very well for affordable prices.

    Hope this helps!

Are you looking for local or remote?

Remote people are hard to manage. And the cheap overseas contractors will skip out on you to have time with their friends...and not be assertive enough to handle North American prospects. They will allow themselves to be "niced out the door" far too easily. There is definitely "Not a Fit" and a time to move on, but there is also a point where the conversation hasn't even been had yet to qualify the prospect. In that situation, the caller may have to push back a little to get the conversation. And these guys just won't do it.

Someone who can come into your home or office, who you can directly supervise, will give you the best results.

Don't think that just because someone is willing to make a few dials it'll be effective. I've had clients hire many remote callers who did put their time in on the phone, but never got any appointments. The willingness to make dials does not directly translate into results.

The best results I have gotten have been from having a caller locally, who I could sit with and coach. Beyond that, it's been really the luck of the draw with remote contractors, even within the continental US.

As for price...$10/hr minimum. If it's such easy work, why aren't you doing it? Nobody wants to do this work. And they usually aren't that committed; I mean, why would they be at $10/hr? Set it up so there's a big reward at the end of the funnel.

Consider what it costs for you to deliver your service. Now subtract that from your price. Do you have overhead--rent, utilities, etc.? Factor those in. Profit? That'd be nice (people forget to build profit into their price).

And what amount is left over? THAT is what you can invest in getting a customer. Get it?

I've been through this exact thing, hired loads of remote telesales people, UK based, US based, Indian, a guy from Ukraine.

In my experience they all talk a good game and failed to deliver results.

It wasn't until I hired sales guy to actually sit in a room together and offer rewards for the highest earner that I found some that could do the work.

I have 3 guys sat in a room together, making calls all day, 2 prospectors and 1 closer. I pay them £10 per hour and an additional 25% of the first months fee for each client the closer gets for me.

The thing is you have to really look after these guys, once you find sales guys that are effective, HOLD ONTO them, if they come to you asking for more money, and can justify why, then give it to them.

Very, very hard to find, but most effective way was to set up a "Sales Guys Wanted" page and ran some adwords to get applicants. Then invite them in for an interview, the one who can sell himself can often sell your products too.

I actually found my closer just by walking down the street, he was one of those charity guys and sold me a £20 a month subscription to help a penal reform program, to this day I still don't know why I signed up, there was just something about the guy, so I asked him how much he earned, told him I could beat it, he came in for a trial and BOOM, my best sales guy.

I've hired many telemarketers over the last few years and I'll get right to the point. Don't waste your time looking for commission only, you may find someone but don't expect quality work.

I found the sweet spot to be paying $12-$15/hour plus bonus per appointment scheduled. You'll still have to work to find the right person obviously, but when you're paying them hourly + bonus, you'll definitely find better talent, but again it's all about management/training,etc., they're not going to magically bring you sales overnight, but if they do then you've struck gold

    Best of luck!

One of the best freelancing websites to find professional telemarketers is on the freelancer website. You can get the link on top of the forum.

Make sure anyone you hire is given the owners phone number. Don't have them wasting time on trying to get through gatekeepers or finding the right person in the organization.

The best way to build a list of direct decision maker prospects is to used linkedin search.

Type 'owner' into the search bar and search for people. You can then define location and city. So you get a list of owners in that location. Or MD, C.E.O's, etc.

Then you can define what business category. So your list just shows owners from that business cat/location.

You'll need to join an open network site and get your connections up fast so you increase your first and second tier connections as you can then access their details.

Depending on the size of city and market, if it's biggest enough and you have a lot of 1 and 2 tier connections, you can get hundreds of mobile numbers or direct email addresses of people you want to talk to. Decision makers.

Then, ensure you check them out. Their website, their social media profiles. Find something about them to drop into the conversation that can tie in with your business but is relevant to them. In each category, you'll find massive disparity between companies on how they do things.

Just understand, rarely do people like a cold call out of the blue from someone who has not got something personalized and relevant and compelling to say to them, but only a generic sales pitch of some sort.

Here's what I mean. Have a quick look at that site: Glazers Chartered Accountants London - London Accountant

These people have got great content in a variety of formats. Active social media channels. Lots of pages targeting different keywords. Obviously have a strategy in place.

If you approach them and acknowledge that in your call so they know you've done research, and have a reason specifically relevant to their approach and how it can help them, just having something relevant like that to bring up with the owner grabs their attention enough to want to here more. It's just human nature. You're talking about something they are heavily invested in, instead of trying to get them interested in what you are invested in and which, at that point, they don't give a shit about.

Once you have their attention and they know you've done your research and have their curiousity, you should then have something highly compelling to sell them on so they take the next step.

Contrast them to this firm: http://www.hhburke-london.co.uk/

The same kind of content/social marketing is probably not on their agenda right now: http://www.hhburke-london.co.uk/

So two things before you even put the cart before the horse and waste time.

      1. Build lists of decision makers with contact details who you can talk to directly.

      2. Research them and get into their world and have something relevant to their business to bring up at the start of the call that shows that compels them to want to know what you have to, so you haven't got people ringing them with silly generic cold call pitches that are just guesses at whether that person has an interest or not.

100% of the people you talk to about their business will have an interest in their business. 99% of them will have no interest in yours .... until you get into their world first and connect what you do to their situation.

You'll just be wasting time and money if you expect to hire people for low money to wade through all the time wasting activity you could avoid.

    Hi

I have also used tele marketers from Odesk . One of things that i find is that when you take on any tele marketer in order for them to be succesful and meet your campaign objectives is to provide them with good training on your product and maybe competitors and you have to maybe give them a chance to understand your product benefits( This can normally take a couple of weeks) . Its difficult to judge from all candidate profiles whether they will suceed in marketing as some people i have found have excellent profiles but you need to also interview them quite throughly and test their abilitys. Also you should think about providing them with some incentives such as a retainer as most good sales people dont like to hit the fones without having at least some money to see them through the initial training period.

Hope this helps in your search

    All the best

You can give advertisement in local news paper for finding experienced telemarketer.

Can't tell you the appropriate rate, but for experienced person you need to be ready to pay more.
