Has This Ever Happened To You on YouTube?

This week, there has been two specific incidents that I haven't experienced before and I'm sure it's probably going to lead to one of my YouTube channels getting whacked pretty soon.

(Sidenote: If you're reading this wondering to yourself why I'm putting this out there, it's because I'm not really making any money on this channel anyway. So if it gets whacked, no biggie. Thus, I thought I might share it as a learning experience)

1. Video Takedowns: Have received (2) messages this week from YouTube saying "This following video was found in Violation of TOU #4 Section H: "You agree not to use or launch any automated system, including without limitation, "robots," "spiders," or "offline readers," that accesses the Service in a manner that sends more request messages to the YouTube servers in a given period of time than a human can reasonably produce in the same period by using a conventional on-line web browser."

Basically, they are saying I'm sending fake views to my videos, but the truth is I have not. Then, they say "As a courtesy, we have re-uploaded your video(s) here" - and they did! Soooooo, I can only assume someone must be spamming me in order to get my video whacked. What I can't figure out is why don't they just report my whole channel as mass spam and get it over with?

2. Massive amount of subscribers: From last night until today...it's been continuing all morning, I've received over 75 Subscribers from what I can clearly tell are fake accounts. Again, I think this is a tactic to hopefully make it appear I'm doing some shady stuff with bots in hopes my channel gets taken down.

So what can we learn? Looks like negative SEO still might actually work on YouTube.

Could be your competitors trying to ban your youtube account. If those are old accounts, I think, you do not worry, but for new accounts, google looks suspicious activities gaining more views or subscribers in a short time (unless you have a viral video).

Clearly it's a negative SEO attack if you have any high ranking videos receiving a sizable amount of traffic. Unfortunately, this is harder to deal with than negative SEO attacks on websites (you can't disavow YouTube views and subscribers). You can either wait and hope it stops, wait and hope it doesn't affect your channel even if the attack continues, or start over.
