Convincing Restaurants to Have Website Built

I've launched a website building business specifically targeted at restaurants (it's more complex than that and we offer services like online payment systems) but one of my issues right now is convincing restaurants that they need a website. For example, statistics that show that companies do better with a website, that people search for websites before going etc. We have meetings set up with multiple fairly successful restaurants and I'm looking for stats to improve our sales pitch.
Thanks!

Your thought process isn't serving you.

Many who have no website feel they don't need it.
This could be due to ignorance or they can't handle
any more, like a client who has customers lining up to the footpath to order.

If you speak to those that don't have a website and
ask if they were considering getting one, then you
have some options that could make their decision easier.

For those that haven't considered a website, then move on.

You can't open up a closed mind or change the views
of those that are locked into a viewpoint.

    Best,
    Ewen

Ewan's right. Don't convince. Find those who're already convinced.

Find restaurants that have websites, ask them questions about how their website makes them more money.

Put ads that use the info you found into play.

I agree. Don't convince. Those restos who don't consider having websites probably are happy with their current situation.

I agree as well. You can't seem to open up a closed mind. You don't want to target a business that doesn't even give an ounce of care into what the Internet is.

Oftentimes, when you try too hard to convince these people, you would have wasted the hours you could have spent getting more clients.

I can't think of a worse industry to target for websites than restaurants. Very rarely is the owner ever going to be available. The GM is very rarely available. They have some of the lowest margins out there which makes it difficult to offer higher end services. Yuck.

Most of them are perfectly happy with direct mail, and to be honest, a website very rarely is going to make them money. Might be nice to have, but a yelp listing with good reviews for the restaurant is going to get more action than the website will.
