Outsourcing Blogging For Business Owners

In 2014 I shifted to high end consulting and no more fulfillment. I keep running into clients that need content marketing. I have been outsourcing for years but since my client base is bigger and expecting more now, I am looking for some good places to outsource my content marketing.

For example, I have 2 clients that want 12 Blogs/Articles with 300-600 words written per month. Where would you suggest for me to find some high quality Blog and Article Writers?

Thanks in advance Warriors !!!

Start right here on the forum and post a classified ad. You will get a few decent writers that will respond. Make sure you set some sort of action in the classified to weed out those that do not follow directions. Like a 100 posts and member of the War room or something along those lines.
Also look on the main forum you can find plenty of writers in that section. Send the ones you like a pm and they usually will respond right away. I have also used 3 writers that use to post in this offline section also.

I used Odesk a few times and had decent results. I would look into paying a decent price range, Than the cheaper prices so you can find good quality writers. I would exclude the $5.00 for a 500 word article or less or your asking for problems.

Other sites you can look at are the usual suspects, like i-writer, freelancer, and maybe fiverr but you will really have to screen people out.

Definitely this. In fact I'd say expect to pay $30+ for articles that are not just "good enough" but actually readable and share-worthy. I was trying to recruit a couple of writers just last week with a budget of $20 per 400 words, and honestly none of the applicants came even close to fitting the bill. The content delivered was technically OK, but it was very clear that it was "outsourced" content. Definitely not good enough for high visibility blogs.

If it's mainly search engine fodder it doesn't matter as much of course, as long as the grammar is decent.

If you feel that these 2 customers are going to keep up with this level of demand, it may be time to look at hiring a dedicated virtual worker. It might take a couple of tries, but you should be able to get one for less than the cost of paying individually for good quality articles.

Hiring a full-time writer would be wise. That way you never have to worry about looking for a good writer every time you have a client needs content.

These guys either ripped of Hubspot with their ebook, 25 must haves, claiming it as their own, or Hubspot has some kind of white label scheme going on.

Edit: Obviously the later. That's Trent's site. One of the very few true professionals in offline associated with the WF.

Trent Dyrsmid. He sold his first online business for 1.2 mil. His blog here documents what he's doing in his agency, in his own words ''I'm sharing everything I'm doing to grow my to $100,000 a month in revenue''.

What a freak stroke of luck. I'd forgot his name and everything since a course I went through of his a few years back and was at a complete loss of how to get back on the trail of finding him only a few days ago, only to randomly click on a suggestion here, recognized his style of copy and checked the company out and find out it's the guy I was looking for.

Even better fortune, he's documenting everything he's doing in his agency week by week for free.

I won't make the mistake of not keeping very close tabs on this guy and what he's doing again.

I posted in my local Facebook San Diego Social Media group and found a few people that are asking $50-$60 per Blog Post. Not feeling ODesk or ELance on these projects.

Do you have a budget? I'm asking because the last place I lived I happened to get to know one of my neighbors and found out that they made their whole living off of being a hired blog writer and it was for just one website for a local finance company.

He was getting paid around 1200 per month and the crazy thing was that he wasn't officially trained/educated in the financial world but he was good at researching the niche and writing and he was doing it daily for his employer.

I had really good results using SAHM's(Stay at home moms). Basically I found a bunch of local home school groups/co-ops, found out who was teaching the English/Comp classes and hired her to write articles for me. I had a stable of four of them and on average paid about $50 per set of four articles. I showed them how in 2-3 hours they could research, write and edit four articles and get paid well for it. It was a win/win for everyone involved. Doesn't hurt that my wife is crunchy and runs in those circles.

I would tend to agree... Housewives are a greatly under utilised workforce, even today...
I would say though, that you need to be very clear on what you want and have to be able to communicate this. Offer training in whatever skills are needed (keyword research, marketing, copywriting), look after them, and they can be very loyal and cheap :-)

Hi MRomeo09, your post here has prompted my first post on Warrior Forum and I hope you can indulge me. I came to WF as part of my self-imposed crash course on marketing both online and off. I am currently webmaster of (as in I work for a client) an ecommerce site that does well but was hit with the dreaded Panda/Penguin offensive and I have been busy working through that challenge. Fresh, informed content is more important than ever and I need to find some local writers to provide me with this content.

The crash course part of what I'm doing is that I am finally taking seriously other online marketing endeavors I have put off because my time has been consumed by the afforementioned ecommerce site. That site is being put on a less labor-intensive platform so that I can be trained to join the sales team and begin selling to clients offline. I dipped into some of these things a few years ago, like affiliate marketing, etc., and had some success, but I've forgotten a lot and am currently re-learning and building on what I already know from promoting the above site.

For these endeavors to succeed and provide good food for Google, I'm going to also need content for those. So, that's my long way of coming to my question: When I tap into the local "working moms" writing resource (something that has been a goal since day one, I'm currently building out several websites but not quite ready for content yet, wanna get sites built first), how do I train them?

To wit, you mention above "I showed them how in 2-3 hours they could research, write and edit four articles and get paid well for it. It was a win/win for everyone involved. Doesn't hurt that my wife is crunchy and runs in those circles." Can you flesh this out so that I can have an idea how to do it? Of course, I've done the research and writing myself but I don't know how I would train how I do it to someone. My process also takes longer than 2-3 hours. Perhaps a little insight into how you do this can help me begin to formulate some sort of tutorial to give them when I meet with them about doing work for me.

Thanks in advance for any help, hope I've articulated my query well enough.

I found one on elance but before you even hire someone I highly suggest you avoid outsourcing. So if you get a bid from India or anywhere else just ignore. I went through about 10 writers.

Here's how I found the perfect writer:
        1. I ignored all the Experts from outsource countries
        2. The only qualified person that I considered was if they were in US
        3. I gave them a sample title and told them to write 1 sample article for me (I paid for it)
        4. Had a few of my friends read the sample articles and than I made a decision

        Hope I helped!

I once outsourced to the Philipines. It was so bad, I couldn't even fix what they wrote to make it better. I just re-wrote it on my own. Finding the right writer is difficult. You just need to find someone who's fluent and a bit of a creative writer.

        No offense taken Zoiden

      I agree with Nicole.

Keep in mind that writers have the skill/ability to take ideas and organize them, infuse personality or not, make things interesting, not just good control of the English language.

A lot of outsourcing services hire people who only have good control of the English language. Or don't pay for the research part.

I don't know if she's accepting new clients, but look up Maureen of the Bellflower Media LLC. Awesome writer!
