9x12 EDDM (Email only) or a Don Alm Strategy (Email only?)
I am going to ask this question for two different reasons.
1. I have a VA who has been as good as gold for me, and currently has about 10 hours a week she can devote to working for me. We are in the process of negotiating an agreement with a friend's company that will keep her busy for those 10 hours, but that friend's company is dragging their feet, and not sure when they'll be ready to start the project that my VA and I will be working on.
2. Most of my time is tied into a business that is going fairly well, but it's a one man operation. I finally read the 4 Hour Work-Week 3 months ago and, after hearing a few other folks talk about it, have decided that I want to leverage the power of a VA to his/her maximum potential.
So, with that being said, I was on a 2 hour road trip this weekend and I was thinking about ways that I could use this VA
The first idea was centered around doing an Email only version of Bob Ross' system. I think that Bob talked about one lady, who was bedridden from home, was able to fill up an entire 9x12 using email only. If I could do that with EDDM, that could be a good project for my VA.
The second idea was an offshoot of one of Don Alm's ideas, and that was the Smart Card discount idea. In an idea that he shared, he talked about getting 10-20 businesses to offer a discount, and then selling those to employers at Christmas time. What I'd like to do is to get a school (or school district) to give us permission to use their name/logo/permission to raise funds on their behalf, and then after we get 10-20 businesses to give us permission to put their information on this card, contact the larger companies/HR departments in that area and get them to buy a card for each of their employees, of which I'd give 30% back to the school.
I've never done EDDM or 9x12 before, but I have done something similar to the second idea, where I contacted schools first, got their permission to do something, and then got local businesses to sponsor that.
What do you think would have more merit or more chance of success, particularly with email only?
Thanks for any ideas you may could shoot my way.
Jeremy
