    Howdy!

Nice, professional looking website. Do you have any testimonials you can put on your site?

Regards to offline marketing... try to see if you can team up with upscale restaurants or beauty salons.

Put together a package clients can buy. While clients are at the restaurants or beauty salons, they can sell the packages for their own products and yours. Like... "Get 2 gifts certificates ($50 Restaurant & $50 Massage) for $50!"

Also, you could try to buy space on tables. You know those little flyers restaurants have that showcase their desserts on every table? Maybe you could see if you can advertise on those. One side is the restaurants desserts the other is your massage services.

Test different offers and see what entices people to buy.

And, that's the key word... "Test." Always test different ideas/offers until you find the ones that work.

    Good luck!!

I have been reading this advice for gift certificates a lot, but honestly I cant figure out the economics of this offer...

      For Me:

50$ Massage Gift Coupon may actually cost around 20$ ( ingredient cost + time spent),

      For Restaurant:

50$ Bill may cost around 20$ ( aprox.)

      Customer actually pays 50$...

So how much do I make for the massage session? How much do I collect for this transaction from the restaurant?

Importantly the restaurant is generating the lead and will expect me to work cost to cost. After all it is his list and the massage is only an upsell for him.

You are only looking at this at the single one off transaction level. its deeper than that. Its about developing a "New" customer, and with that you then are looking at the value of a customer over a lifetime.

I was recently working with a restaurant and it was decided to do some radio advertising and do a 50% off coupon offer ( the radio station does a 50% Friday promotion thing ) Most places have offered 50 coupons for this. I was very stern on offering 200. They sold out in 20 minutes.

The key to this promotion ( on my clients end ) is that the customer is requested to show the coupon to the hostess apon arrival. This sets in motion a number of things. but the absolute basics are the entire experience is watched from start to finish. They want to present the customer with the best possible dining experience. From the attention to the hostess to the attention of the waiter / waitress, the quality of the food, the presentation of the food all the way to the moment that the customer is leaving.

What this did for the restaurant owner was created the need to uptrain his staff. Get everyone on the same page, and not allowing for second best, NOT just for the coupon users, but for every single guest.

Not including the 200 coupon guests, in a matter of 3 months this restaurant went from "Walk-In's welcome" to "Reservations Highly Suggested".

I run into situations like this all the time. Its not necessarily a "Advertising" issue as it is an "Operations" issue. With online marketing we can control many of these issues. we provide the traffic, and we can control the results. With offline... that dynamic changes. The level of control that we as marketers have generally decreases tremendously.

That would be why I stay away form the lead generation aspect of the marketplace. UNLESS, like in this case, there is a willingness to really look at issues and make corrections.

        Hope that Helps!

Are you willing to offer a commission?

Go to every fitness trainer and fitness center in the area and offer them $10 per referral, or a gift card, or some other enticement. They know who among their clients are struggling and may need a massage.

Do not forget to contact every retirement complex in your area, also. See if you can post flyers on their community bulletin boards and leave flyers with their receptionist.

That's just two ideas that pop to mind quickly...

I deal with clients such as you and your wife on a daily basis. The #1 piece of advice I can give you would be to ALWAYS consider consistency with the language, look, and feel of your offline advertising in correlation to your online presence.

A direct example of this would be the look and feel of your printed piece as it correlates to your website. Your website has a very ethereal peaceful appearance... your flyer? not so much, there is a disconnect. In the same manor you will read that if you are doing PPC you want the message that you are drawing people in with to be consistent with the page you are directing them to. Its exactly the same theory.

Your potential clients are getting a pretty red and black flyer for a message session, and then they are directed to a pretty light ocean blue website. Remember... the printed piece is there on the table and the page is on the screen, the visual contrast is right there in front of them. Does Target send out mailers with a blue bullseye directing you to a store or website with a red bullseye? No, the are consistent.

In todays world... August 15th starts "Christmas Season" Your site AND your flyers and any other promotional material you have needs to have this in mind. What do people give for the holidays? Gift Certificates. If you are spending the time and money with your introductory offer today, plant the seed beyond Sept 15th and the option of giving the gift of relaxation.

I see that you have an "office" list the address. don't be vague and say that its near some water park... Its located at: 300 W X drive, just minutes from the blah blah water park.

Speaking of the office... same color scheme as the website?

what do you and your wife do on Saturdays? maybe think of tailgating at a college game or 2 and offer free 5 minute massages before the game. have flyers and a healthy assortment available ( grilled fruits - watermelon, pineapple, bananas etc )

Your about us page... the photo in particular... who is the massage therapist? who is the main subject of the photo? sorry but you are simply the marketing guy.. the storyline is cool ( husband and wife - you are a cute looking couple ) but she needs to be the main subject of the image. Its your job to get people to see her... SHE is the face of your company.

    Hope that Helps!

I had read that door hangers need to have very vibrant colors that stand out in order to grab people's attention before they throw it in the trash, which is why I chose black and red for the color scheme. For the website, I am trying to create a more relaxing, spa feel. So you think that I should stick to the websites feel for future advertisements as well even if it doesn't "pop" as much?

Unfortunately, Fridays and Saturdays are by far our busiest days so it would be difficult to do a tailgating promotion at a BYU game. We only launched a month ago, but our Fridays and Saturdays have been booked solid every week. It is filling the time slots during the week that presents a bigger problem.

I agree, my wife is the face of the business! The only reason I used that picture of the two of us is because we don't have any professional portraits of her to put on there. Seems like that would be worth investing in though.
The flyer would have been a pass in my book if the red was the same hue as your site. It would still have impact. One of the things I try to do on a 2 sided piece is what I call a impact and burn side. In your case I might have done something like all black background with "The Gift of RELAXATION" in bold ocean blue letters. Or even the message "GOT STRESS?" Something that is going to make them not only grab it from their door, BUT flip it and read it. the flip side would be all the details. a door hanger there is more than enough space. Door hangers happen to be one of those items that you have control of the presentation. ( meaning what side is seen first )

For the mid week try specials like the "Mid Week Mental Break" and offer a discount for Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday. You might justd raw some of you regular weekend clients into that time frame, opening the coveted weekend times for other customers.

With the photo, no sense in going over board. just get a nice looking shot at sears or walmart. you don't need a glamour shot or anything just a "Hi Im kind and polite" photo! ha ha

Just to clarify my query further:

    1. The pull for customers is the restaurant (it is a konwn brand). They are coming in the restaurant to eat and my massage gift coupons are just nice upsells for them.So since the lead is generated by the restaurant, what is a fair split for the 50$ paid by the customer that the restaurant should pay me( for this eat 50$ and get a massage for 50$ free scheme)?

    2. The restaurant would get this 50$ business even without the gift coupon. Why should the restauarant split their 30$ (50$ - 20$) profit with me?

    3. I'm even willing to accept my split in trade ( barter). But I cant figure out what is a fair split of the 30$ profit that the restaurant should offer me.

    4. Trade ( barter) does not work reverse way in this case . Since I'm not a brand and just a start up, I cannot use this strategy ( buy a 50$ massage and get 50$ restaurant coupon free). I simply cannot generate sufficient leads on my one ( otherwise I would not even require this jv with the restaurant).

There are a lot of exeprienced marketers here and I request them to resolve my query.I have been reading a lot on JV + GCs but this bundled offer ( where I generate leads off the restaurants repeat client base) is not working for me....

    Thanks in advance

The actuality in your situation is this. you are asking to leverage the Restaurants traffic. The value is NOT in any way shape or form in the restaurants benefit. There IS the value of added benefit, simply because the leverage of traffic is not reciprocal.

So an offer such as show the restaurants receipt at so and so Massage Therapy receive 50% off a massage becomes a win for both parties. It removes the risk / loss from the restaurant and creates that added value for eating at that facility.

As a marketer I might even take this a step further. How would you provide that message? why not the back side of the receipt? All of the sudden you can create value to the restaurant by PROVIDING them rolls of receipt paper, with YOUR message printed on the back.

At this point you don't have to stop at 1 restaurant... your marketing possibilities become just short of endless - Every store, restaurant etc has a cash register, you have the ability to provide receipt paper for free anyone and everyone is a potential marketing outlet.

So you can NOW go even step further. Why stop at advertising just your venture? Keep in mind, you NOW have value to offer. You have the distribution method to getting your and other's message to the people. and what is that worth?

Jason Kanigan speaks consistently about just that. Read the below 2 posts to get a firm grip on that possibility:

      http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...uch-again.html

      http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...ess-model.html

doing a real quick search on custom printed rolls here is a link for you to look at.

Thermal Custom Printed Paper Rolls @ BuyRolls.com

250 rolls printed with an expense of $400.. My gosh I am so on this! ha ha

      Hope that Helps!

Wow...thanx, can't locate the thanx buttton...

Yes, show receipt and get 50% off your next massage is a much better option. And grouped coupons on the restaurant invoice are cheaper than some fancy envelope clad expensive coupons.

Maybe I was just blinded by the lucrative daydreams of 80% off the restaurant retail price via trade possibilty. I have read several offline greats like Jay Abraham, Robin Elliott etc and they all talk about full retail barter.

Guess that doesnt work in my case. No restaurant is going to trade 50$ massage gc for 50$ restaurant bill, especially if they are doing the lead generation for me.

Im going though all the suggested threads now. Thanx again for the help.

My wife has a massage therapy business and i managed to get the top 5 positions from first page through basic local SEO and a clever copy on my site for the local area.
the secret in successful massage business is client retention, when you offer cheaper and discounts you get cheap clients. Cheap clients are a pain in the jacksy and you really dont want them. you want clients that respect and appreciate the massage, not those who want a good therapist on the cheap.
we charged £5 more per client than our established competitors who are half a mile from us with a high street shopfront and we have retained 85% of our clients and gained approximately 25% of the competitors clients that have come over to us in the 2 years we have been open - all through delivering a great massage and great customer care.

Local SEO is easier than general marketing, reverse engineer the competitors and just do the same as them and add a bit more, make a video about your practice and get it on you tube, get a press release out on your local radio station.

My wife does not hire staff as her attitude is that the massage should be delivered great every time, she say there is more incentive to provide a great service for her working for £45 per hour rather than a staff member doing the same work for £8 per hour. Yes she is working hard, but she is getting her books fuller each week and now there's a three week wait to get an appointment.
The clients keep coming back and we use that as our main selling point, when people phone she will say that 'oh sorry there's a regular booked at that time, and that, and that. this impresses the prospect and they seem more eager to book.

Our website uses the 'returning customer' line as part of the copy as does using gumtree, yelp and craigslist etc.

Great service = repeat customers that will value the service supplied. Massage is a personal and spiritual thing and higher end clients prefer that and the extra attention to detail such as remembering the names of their children or even remembering that the client has a particular problem area that needs attention. Always over deliver by adding 5-10 minutes on to the booked time, dont cram the appointments in its better to deliver 4 great massages in a day than 8 rushed massages because those rushed massages will ruin your reputation in an instant.

That's great wisdom you're sharing for any small business. What good is spending all that energy, time and money to secure clients if you do not retain them. No substitute for over-delivering to win over loyal clients.

I also posted on another thread.

is anyone a member of barterbucksbanc ?

    I was thinking of joining to barter;
however their directory seems so disorganized.
there are vague details on what the seller is selling !
no answer to email or phone calls.

does anyone work with a barter company they are happy with ?
obviously we are all entrepreneurs and trying to avoid jumping thru hoops.
    thank you everyone !

      Hi there...

you have links to facebook, etc on your website but they go NO where

IMHO people do check..and click...and this does not really look good

OK, if you do not want to "do" twitter, no problem, but at least get a viable facebook page up and running....this is a good way to "connect" with future and current clients

If you absolutely do NOT want social media, (and why not LOL?) I think it would be better to remove the non clickable links

      JMO of course
