Hey everyone,

If this is in the wrong forum, I apologize. Please move it to the right forum!

I built some sites, wrote unique SEO'd content, and did some marketing, here and there for a few clients over the past few years.

One of my clients wants to pay me a monthly retainer to keeping adding great content, build back links, and do some online marketing on a regular basis.

I've never charged a monthly retainer to a client and would like to get some feedback on what you guys would charge.

I would like to give him 3 options under 2k a month.

For example

Package 1 $750/month includes- (what would you do for your clients site at this price?)

Package 2 $1250/month includes- (what would you do for your clients site at this price?)

Package 3 $1950/month includes- (what would you do for your clients site at this price?)

Can you guys and gals please let me know what you would charge and what you would give for that price?

Please be specific if you can for each package like (2 x 400 SEO worded articles a week, "x" social media posts, "x" blog post, backlinks (from where? Forum profiles? Blog comments, etc...)

I would appreciate any help on this!

Thanks warriors!

well, I think that it is a hard decision, because depends on the topics and the clients.

Anyway I think that a medium quality content of 500 words can be around 10$. You can find for $50, but in iWriter, you can have an Elite writer for $10.

So doing some maths I will buy all this articles from a writer for 10$ this means like $80 per months.

So you can get focused on the marketing, and imroving the articles if needed to improve the quality of the website.

Then a fair price can be $60 per hour maybe $80 per hour for the marketing.

How many hours you need to do your marketing I cannot know, but you just do a division and you know how many hours you can give per package.

I usually tell the clients that I work on their budget - more importantly I rather want their business to grow more than anything else. It shows that I really care for them. From there, I get to create a workload for the amount of $$ they're willing to invest on a monthly basis.

You need to get the client to write down what they expect from you during the month and also have a separate list for extras if they occur.
You can't just make a list or they will possibly try to take advantage of you.
Contract is needed as well so both sides know the expectations.

I will normally get an outsourcer with a good portfolio (that I will show the client) and at least double what I am quoted. I started doing that when I would try to sell some fancy wordpress site/theme and invariably the client would want something completely different, with all sorts of content and SEO work included.

That's really not a fair request lol because it all comes down to what you want to charge for your time. You've got the right idea- to propose mulitple options - I'd actually give them 4 options, because studies show that the majority will choose the 2nd best option.

If you're looking for ideas, see what other people who are offering similar services are doing. Then decide for yourself whether you want to be like everyone else, or break the mold.

Hey, thanks everyone for your suggestions.

I didn't get any email notifications for this thread so I thought that no one had answered it.

All of these ideas are great!

I do use iwriter quite a bit and would use that as a starting point for the articles before I go in and edit/optimize them myself.

I have seen what many SEO businesses offer, but they also offer link building (perhaps from their own network of sites), whereas I would have to out source that part of it too.

I don't know why, but it just seems hard to nail down specific services for different packages perhaps because I cannot guarantee rankings or even backlinks from websites with the same affinity.

I appreciate all of your feedback and feel free to keep chiming in!
