Keto Community | Low-Carb Diet | KetoVille.com

I'm a professional website designer by trade and I designed a custom community (300 members) based around a very niche and trending diet (which actually worked for me) called the Ketogenic Diet. Or, keto. There's a huge community for the diet on Reddit.com/r/keto which has a sidebar ad for my website (Ketoville.com). (30,000 users on this sub-Reddit page). I currently do not have the time to maintain, market or keep the website updated due to my work obligations.

I designed the website (HTML5/CSS3 - No Flash) which includes user-blogs, a vote-based forum, a social community (walls, videos, images, etc) - as well as an integrated firewall into the CMS - automatic backup system, and front-end SEO input Ajax tool. Twitter is also integrated into the website (feed) and the site currently ranks #1 for the search term "Keto Community". The website is built upon a user friendly CMS - so no coding or languages will need to be utilized in order to update or maintain it. I have the following social names: Facebook.com/ketoville | ketoville@gmail.com | Twitter: Ketoville | Google + Ketoville page. I've never pushed it or advertised it, and it simply gets traffic from Reddit. I usually get 5 users per day without doing anything.

The way the diet works is like this: When you eat sugar, your body produces the hormone: insulin. When your body produces insulin (so that the sugar doesn't poison you), the hormone which directs fat to leave fats cells (leptin) cannot work. So, with the keto diet you eat a high fat diet (cream, bacon, beef, cheese, butter, etc) and cut almost all carbs (sugar, bread, juice, etc). What happens is that your body stops producing so much insulin because you aren't eating sugar - your body is using the fat for energy where it use to use carbs - and the hormone leptin can finally work and tell the fat in the fat cells to leave.

There is a great opportunity to market with keto recipe websites, because this diet is all about being creative. There is also a market for low-carb alternatives (online stores) to bread which is extremely popular. Instead of eating a whole pizza, you just eat the toppings and cheese. There are many articles coming out (NYTimes) about how sugar is the cause for heart attacks, not fat. In the 1970's, the Government solicited a scientist to figure out why everyone was having heart attacks. He took a group of over-weight people and concluded that they all had one common food in their diet: donuts. Well, his theory was that because donuts were fried, fat was the cause for being fat - and heart attack risk. However, he did not consider that donuts are made of bread (which is carbs - carbs convert to sugar in your body). Ever since the 1970's the Government has said that Fat is bad, so all food is now low-fat. Food manufacturers soon realized that by taking the fat out of food, the food ended up tasting bland. So, they just pumped more sugar into their food to add flavoring.

Ask yourself this. Since we took fat out of almost all our food (milk, cheese, meats, etc); why is it that as a nation, the United States is becoming fatter? You'd think that by removing fat, we'd be getting thinner. So, the point is that this diet is becoming very popular because scientists are concluding that fat is not bad, it's the sugar. So the keto diet has you eat more fat (your brain uses 80% fat for energy) to get energy, and cut all carbs/sugar so that your body can release the fat from the fat cells.

As a bonus I will integrate a newsletter component in the website with a call-to-action newsletter module on the front page. You can send out newsletters via the backend of the website. I never went this route due to not having enough time.

what is the CMS or script used?
Is the script price included in the sale? Or do we need to get the license separately?

The CMS used is Joomla 2.5. There are no script fees or any other monthly fees. Some of the software installed has yearly subscription fees (mainly the firewall - to receive updates, which is about $80).

Thanks jmerc! It's a great diet, I recommend it to anyone who is trying to lose weight and can't figure out why fad-diets aren't accomplishing their goals.
