Hi Guys,

I could use a bit of guidance creating an adwords campaign for my employer. I work for a cyber security company and we want to test PPC for leadgen. Got any resources you could recommend to help me to go about creating the campaign and choosing viable keywords? Thanks.

Steve

I find that the best place to start is with the keywords planner. I follow this process to kick off my campaigns.
    1) Put your website into the KW planner and see what adgroups and keywords Google sees in your website. Download and save these in a spreadsheet.
    2) Then think about what exactly you want people to do on your website, and also what your USPs are, and come up with a list of seed keywords. Put these into the keyword planner. Save into the same spreadsheet.

Between the 2 outputs, and deciding what you are going to offer on your website, you'll generally spot a number of keyword phrases and adgroups that will give you highly targeted traffic. As you look through you'll immediately look at some and think - that's what I need, and others you'll immediately discount.

I would suggest to go for result based campaigns. I would start with wide and extensive keywords and move towards deep and intensive keywords, based on Google keyword and site tool.

Right from the beginning, track conversions or sales for extensive keywords. Slowly and steadily, zero in on your best converting keywords. Further, optimize your site for those keywords, to further reduce your costs(CPC) and increase profitability.

In long run, your cost will come down and you can easily sustain any competition.

Hey, I am Google Certified professional, hence know some bits about it.
