How it effects me if I have high or low CTR?

How does it matters?
I pay only per clicks, so if I run a campaign with $5 budget for a day, if I have 0.12 per click for example I will get around 40 clicks anyway..
So how the CTR affects my ad?

Thanks.

    What platform you using?

With Adwords.. higher CTR generally means better quality score, more impressions and cheaper clicks. But looking at your 12c click looks like its banner ads or something..

  • Doesn't matter if it's Adwords or Bing. They work on the same principle: your ads are graded on CTR (mostly) and compared to those using the same keywords and they call it Quality Score. A QS of 5 is average. Higher QS helps reduce your CPC. QS multiplied by your bid determines your position.

CTR should always be placed in context of ad position and QS does exactly that. In fact, I would not pay too much attention to your actual CTR. QS is your guide. CTR means nothing without context. I've seen CTRs of 1% near the top and QS of 9 or 10 while others with CTR of 5% but QS of 5 or 6. The one I pay more attention to is those with lower QS.

If you use the display network on Adwords, the equivalent of QS is Relative CTR. A number of 1.0 is average so you want that number higher to gain more benefits (ie: more exposure and lesser CPC).
