Horrible Results with Bing Ads...

Well, I'm here just to let you know some really bad results I had with bing ads.

I have a landing page where users fill their email and name and later I promote some cpa/affiliate stuff.

About one month ago I advertised this site using a cheap ppc system named "Adhitz", 90% of traffic was from 3 tier contries I and got 130 clicks to my landing page, 40 new subscribers and only 1 conversion.

So days ago started with bing ads, I got 360 clicks and guess what? 2 new subscribers and 0 conversions. All clicks from USA, using good keywords and the same site with no change that I advertised last month on adhitz.

I bet that I would make one conversion for every 50 clicks and get dozens of new subscribers based on previous result of Adhitz, but was wrong.

How could this be possible? I spent the whole morning trying to find if something is not working fine on aweber or on my site, even on my bing ads campaign, but there's nothing wrong. Google analytics also is showing all clicks/visits from bing.

    Hi Cleberl1,

Sounds like it might be a targeting issue. Have you ran a Search Terms Report?

There is a good chance that your targeting isn't precise enough. The STR will give a an idea of exactly which search terms triggered your ads. They might be too general, or too broad, or just plain irrelevant. Check that report and let us know what you find!

If you have ads triggered by irrelevant or informational search terms (low commercial intent) then you will see results like what you reported.

I haven't used this STR, but the fact is I got 40 subscribers with a low quality network like adhitz, I haven't changed anything on my site and with more than 300 clicks got only 2 subscribers. My site/landing page is about a ebook to make money online.

I got almost all clicks from "make money online" and "work from home" search terms so I don't think it's not relevant.

Maybe I got almost no subscribers because the page is a bit slow to load, sometimes it get from 3 to 10 seconds to load.

        Hi Cleberl1,

Search ad campaigns are very different from display ad campaigns. Precise targeting is much more important for positive results. Do not assume that because you have selected relevant keywords that your ads are triggered by relevant terms, that is seldom true.

You need to run the STR because it will show you what search terms are triggering your ad. Without it you are seeing which "keywords" are triggering your ad, not which search terms. Search terms and keywords are not the same thing.

There is a very good chance that most, or all, of your traffic is coming from irrelevant, or low commercial intent keywords. Unless you are using exact match keywords exclusively you will not be able to know without running a Search Terms Report. That report is the most essential tool for managing your account and you cannot tell what is really happening without analyzing that report.

While search advertising allows for very precise targeting of search terms, you do not get that precision unless you use the proper combination of keyword matching options and negative keywords. It is nearly impossible to be sure that your targeting is even close to precise until you analyze your search terms report, and in nearly all campaigns you will need to make unanticipated adjustments to achieve proper targeting.

Because PPC advertising is very competitive, odds are good that your campaigns are getting mostly crap search terms that your competitors have filtered out by precision targeting methods and close analysis of their STR. You cannot expect your search terms to be relevant if you have not made the same type of adjustments.

If you lose some of your keywords, use 1 ad, and try not to use their content network, I think that your campaigns will improve.

Also, make sure that you test this and only go with a $10-$20 daily budget.

      Thanks.

First I'll try to improve my landing page. Why you think is not better to use their content network?

I would definitely check your targeting and if only want say united states, make sure set to...

If only targeting x, make sure keywords right, exact and targeted

Plus, depending on the niche and most often than not, it's better to get rid of the content network for sure, you'll get less clicks but better quality.

The big key and think a lot of people forget or don't know this, yahoo and bing are one for years now, so when you throw your ppc on bing, it's also shown on yahoo. No way around it, so in my opinion, bing is definitely not the targeted "better buyer" source it used to be.

It can still be effective and use, but not the top choice at all anymore since merged with yahoo.

Thanks, very useful tips. Well I was advertising a "free" guide to make money online. Almost all clicks was from 2 keywords and I imagined these keywords was relevant, but maybe I was wrong.

Yep, I'll exclude content network or bid very low just to see what happens. Thanks.

Are you emailing the list that you got from the 3 tier? I wouldn't be surprised if they were all bot sign ups ...

Its great to have people in your email list, but if they dont open they are useless. Seems like you know how to get people on your list now try figuring out who on the list is actually worth it and figure out where those people came from.
