Testing Idea With Paid Traffic

I'm pretty new to IM, but have an idea for a membership site. I recently heard that it's good to test your market/niche first. The process is something like this:

1) Create something valuable (report, video, etc.) in your niche to give away free.


2) Put up a website with your offer (ideally, tie it into an autoresponder to build a list)


3) Spend a little money to bring about 100 people to your website. See how many take your free offer. This gives you an idea of how much interest there is in your product/service.


The purpose is to avoid wasting too much time or money in a niche with little demand. For example, don't write a 400-page ebook and spend $1,000 on a website that no one cares about. Of course, you don't want to waste much time or money on your test, either.


Since I'm not very technical or experienced, I'd really appreciate feedback or tips on doing this. Could I get someone from Fiverr to put up the website? Any specific recommendations? What's the best place to buy the traffic--Google, Bing, Facebook, etc.?
