we have some desktop apps and we make in-app ads to get income. If there is ad clicks in our apps, we can get $0.13 per click at the beginning. But from August, we only got about 0.11-0.10 per click. And our DAU gets decreasing.

  • So many people focus on the wrong thing here. It's because they don't understand the system.

PPC ads are served primarily depending on their quality. Read quality as their click rates. So the higher the ad's quality, the more chance you have to have it shown. The other component of course is the bid the advertiser is willing to pay.

Quality and bid affects ad positioning. Quality also affects how much an advertiser will actually pay. Typically, a higher quality means a lower click cost to that advertiser, a reward if you will for providing good quality ads (compared to other advertisers) to the system.

If you do the math, this is a win-win for the PPC ad network and the advertiser. The advertiser gets to advertise more cheaply which is one of their goal and the ad network makes more money. An ad paying $0.10 with a 4% click rate makes them more money than one with a 3% rate and netting $0.13 per click.

So which one would you rather have shown on your site or in your app? I'd pick the first paying $0.10 per click, it's more money in my pocket.

The ad networks would not do this if it made them less money. They know what they are doing. So don't fret that you are getting less per click. You are making more overall because the ad network is trying to maximize its own revenues and thus yours.

So in a word, it is acceptable for us to get the $0.1 per click although we get less income. But how about the DAU, it is still decreasing.

Make good relevent ads, increase your Quality Score.its will help you for less CPC & must get good traffic as well as Leads. Never dispointed, its business some time profit & some time loss.

So the good way is to improve the ad quality? But we have no right to choose the ads we need. The ads are showing in our apps randomly. It depends on the advertisers and ad platform.

But you are right, doing business is sometimes profit, sometimes may be loss.

      Thanks!

  • Jony appears to think you are an advertiser.

The publisher side is not really my thing but I know enough to be dangerous. To serve ads on your page, the system determines the subject of that page so that it can match the subject of ads in their inventory. You can help yourself by helping the system better determine your page's subject with page title, description and keyword tags. The text of course will go a long way but the tags need to nail the subject down.

If you do that, you may get more relevant ads served on that page. Don't know how that works for apps but surely there's something that the system takes as cues. As an advertiser, I don't want to advertise on all types of apps.

The other side of the coin of course is contact advertisers. Find those who could benefit to advertise on your site/pages/apps and tell them to target you. For example, if I sell a fuel additive/cleaner, I will want to advertise on car maintenance sites. If you have such a site, you could find me and tell me to advertise on your site through Adwords, if that's the ad network you use. That would increase ad relevancy on your site, therefore more clicks and more revenues for you and a win for me too as I get more relevant clicks and maybe a a great CPC. We would all win. Just send them my way so I can properly set them up.

So you mean i should contact the advertisers in my apps? Of course, those advertisers are related to my site. But question, we only have few desktop games app. Most of our game users want to get rid of ads, but they can not. Also they would not click the ads in it unless there are some new ads and interesting. So i get less ad clicks leading to less revenue.

Are you sure the adverts you are being served are related? Networks don't always serve the best ads. Check to see what kinds of ads are being served just to be sure. Make a note of those that are the most related and which may get the highest click rate and who the advertiser is. Those are the ones you want to continue advertising and make you money, as long as it makes them money too.

The problem is that most advertisers are lazy and really don't know much. They likely don't even know their ads are showing on your site and apps. I don't see any problem not to contact them and their competitors who may not be aware of such ad networks. I think it's a win-win for everybody.

Of course i know i can not control advertisers. Also i mentioned i only can contact the ad platform and they make the ads showing randomly. So even my app is related to some ads, but i can not force advertisers to make his as show in my apps.

I only can keep quiet to see the ads which show in my apps. I have nothing can do.

    Hi,

Quality Score(QS) depends on few factors:
Your Landing Page should match the ad
Keywords should match the Landing Page product or services
Your website should be relevant to the product or services you offer.

If you keep these things in mind your ads will get good QS and will start ranking good.

    Thanks
    Victor

It makes me confused. Whether I need QS? I just need to attract more my app users to click the ads. The question now is i get less ad clicks.
