Need help with CB and Adwords slap

Hi Warriors,

I have an info-product that was doing OK on my own AdWords campaign. (never put it on any affiliate network)
Long time ago AdWords "slapped" me. (the usual reasons: not much value etc.)

Now I'm debating what are my best options for also trying listing it on CB:

Do I keep the domain and everything as is and let the affiliates do their magic?
I am worried that If anyone uses AdWords it will not do well.
I'm not sure if there are any other consequences of the slap as well: e.g. SEO on articles that point to the sales page from an affiliate link will not rank well etc. etc.
In other words i'm afraid the affiliates will soon drop it.

If I change the domain, Google is smart enough to detect the same content (???), so back to square one.

A complete redesign is to be avoided due to lack of time etc.

What is the best solution according to you?
It's a descent product and it converts reasonably well and it's a pity to go to "waste".

Thanks in advance !!!

When you face an obstacle, move on.

    Try Facebook or Bing instead.

      Thanks solarwarrior,

      I guess I wasn't clear.
This is exactly what I would try next but instead of investing in campaigns and tests etc. I'd rather put it on CB get 25% and spend my time on other projects.
Hence my question. Would this slap affect affiliates that would go either the AdWords or SEO way.

If you kept the same page as is and you got slapped, your affiliates will too if they direct link.

Sounds like you need to rewrite your landing page, keeping in mind Adwords rules and policies. You don't need to change domain. Changing the domain without addressing the issue will not solve anything. That would be best in best interest for both you and your affiliates.

You seem not to want to do that so you'll have other consequences. You are right that savvy affiliates will not join and the others drop it. The issue is really the same when it comes down to it. Deal with Google (and Bing and others too) or with affiliates.

i thought AdWords doesn't allow direct aff. links anymore (for a while now).

How would the slap hurt an affiliate who e.g. has a related blog which he/she promotes with AdWords or SEO and inside that blog there is an aff. link towards mypage ?
Unless Google goes down to "level 2" when it comes to AdWords ???

  • You can direct link to an affiliate site, there's no rule against that. But that page has to follow all the other rules, just as if it was your own page. So having a compliant page will be beneficial to those who wish to do so. Smart marketers will not and you may lose affiliates that way.

It's the chicken and the egg I think...
A blog with tons of good contents that G will love will not be able to convert ( I think...) as well than a classic sales page that converts well.
Isn't that the reason the vast majority of sites on CB are "pure" sales pages at best???
With some being even straight squeeze pages (i.e. "enter your email on that box next to the video to get a free report" and that's it! no content, no nada)

Or maybe i've been away for too long and things have changed??....

    thanks
