    Hi Keerti,

To achieve the top ad position in Bing search requires 3 things:
    1. Proper account structure using relevant keywords
    2. Compelling ad text that gets superior CTR.
    3. Setting an adequate Max CPC bid.

If you do a proper job on those 3 items you will have top ad positions in Bing search. While it might be possible to get your ad in a top position without the first two items, it will require a much higher Max CPC bid if you have not done a proper job of those.

Sorry this isn't going to answer your question directly.. Frankly because I never used Adwords or any service like that, but I'm just curious..

Have you tried solo ads? They work wonders for me &I you don't have to worry about your advertisements rankings.

Just make sure you find a good provider for your niche!

Hopefully this helped in one way, shape, or form

    Adam

Short answer: Up your max cpc bid on the keyword you want a higher position for.

The right way is what dburk has written.

Don't compete for #1 spot for a keyword with a low quality score. Quality score is a column you can see in Bing. See here: Quality score in depth

For a good quality score you need a good, relevant ad copy and a decent landing page.

[edit:] Tracking conversions to ads and keywords is critical!

      Good luck!

One important fact to be aware of when looking for the top position in Bing ads is:

The companies/people who've obtained the top positions, are usually established.

In other words, they have the results and budget to increase/hold their bids at insane CPCs, because they know the true lifetime value of their customers, and can put up a bigger fight. Because they know their true break even points, and how far to push the envelope while still getting a good ROI (sometimes on the back end if not on the front end).

So keep that in mind when bidding, because you can see bids go from $.60/click to $5/click in the same day. That's just an exaggerated example, but that's just to say don't spend too much trying to compete with established players in top positions, if you're not getting the results you desire.

Another thing is, your EPC can actually go down with higher search positions. Reason is, a particular keyword may bring in many clicks, yet few of those clicks actually convert. And since your visibility is huge at positions 1-3, more people will see the ad, hence more clicks from possibly uninterested browsers.

So it's a fine line that you learn to walk on a case-by-case basis.
