Is a low click-through rate on Facebook's PPM ads normal

I started paying per 1000 impressions on Facebook ads. It's cool because I can get 1000 impressions for a quarter

Here are my stats for today in the Ads manager:

My cost-per-click is looking fantastic, but that click-through rate looks horrible. I divided the website clicks by the reach and I discovered my ad has a 0.001% click-through.

Should I be concerned?

  • One to two clicks per thousand is often typical of content networks such as FB. What is more important is how well you are doing compared to other advertisers. Facebook has something called relevance score, the equivalent of Adwords and Bing Ads Quality Score. So the real question is, what is your relevance score? If it's below 5, you are lower than average. Ideally, you want to shoot for a 7 and above.

I don't care how much you pay per click or per thousand impression. It's all irrelevant if you get thousands of clicks for pennies if that traffic doesn't convert. Concentrate on targeting your proper market, have great ads that make people notice and click then a great page that makes them want to buy your product.
