One of the greatest benefits of posting your video content to YouTube is the SEO value that comes with it. YouTube is one of the largest search engines in the world (second only to Google), And with that popularity comes extremely high authority in Google search.
When publishing videos to YouTube, it is important to apply SEO best practices to certain areas of the page.

# For Example:

1) Titles: With limited plain text for search engines to crawl, the title of your video is probably the most important SEO factor to consider. Titles for YouTube videos should include relevant keywords to ensure high rankings in Google and YouTube search, while still being compelling enough to encourage clicks and views.
Best Practices:
# Include keyword phrases as close to the front of your title as possible, since front-loaded titles tend to rank well in search.

[ Important:
Keep your titles within 70 characters (including spaces). Though YouTube has a 100-character limit for titles, anything longer than 70 will be truncated in most search results. ]

2) Descriptions:
The Description field in YouTube represents another opportunity to let search engines know what your video is about and provide more text to be crawled. These descriptions also appear as rich snippets in search results ¡§C the few lines of text that appear under the title which can help encourage more clicks to your content.
Best Practices:
# Include the same keywords targeted in the title of your video within the description field at least once.
# While YouTube gives you 5,000 characters to play with in the Description field, it0„30...4s best to keep the first line of your description relatively brief, as no more than the first 157 characters will appear as a snippet in search. In fact, most search engine results will truncate descriptions starting at approximately 100 characters.
# Include a link sending viewers back to your website immediately after the first sentence of your description. This can help ensure the URL does not appear as a rich snippet in search results, but will also not be hidden beneath the 'Show More' section of the Description field!!

That's all guys, It just a short but important tips for YT Marketers!!

Amazing post! I've only started to consider the value of Youtube SEO. Already read a few post about it and so far this is the best one.

The potential of success on you specific marketed niche may rely on the ability to maximize the use of Youtube SEO. Along side google ofcourse. If you manage to reign over both search engines, Marketing will be easier.

Back to the post, I love how you explained this simply yet very detailed enough to help someone start off on Youtube. I myself, is well motivated to relaunch some campaigns through youtube.

    Again thanks.

I'd have to disagree on that strategy. While valid, a better way to go is not focus heavily on SEO and make it sound more natural. I also would not worry about title length.

For the description I encourage everyone to use a few thousand characters. Google does index the FULL description and writing naturally about the subject will have you ranking for all kinds of keywords when you take advantage of putting in lot's of information.

I highly recommend Siloing videos as well. So if I was doing reviews for cell phones I would create a Playlist for Cell phone reviews and in every video I did I would link back to the Cell Phone playlist as well as the next video once I make that. This helps create a flow for Google to follow and has the added benefit of your next video autoplaying in youtube once that video is finished. It also has solid SEO benefits.

The other thing to point out is that Youtube videos can be heavily linked to without suffering a penalty. Basically you can purchase 30 bucks worth of links and just point them to your video and it will help the video rank if there is not too much competition for that keyword. Normally this would TANK your own website but with youtube videos Google doesn't seem to care. Probably because they are making money from it.

Everyone has their own methods. The one listed first in this thread is a lot shorter time wise.

The last thing to mention is you can setup closed captioning for your videos. If you pay for a transcript it's normally a buck a minute so for a few bucks you can get a transcript done and insert that into the description as well as setup CC which also has clear SEO benefits.
