Hey guys,

I'm new to this forum... so thanks in advance for your help (:
I recently started running search campaigns on Adwords (been running display campaigns for a while...) and i'm currently looking for the best keywords research tool. I saw there's a wide selection out there.. do you have any recommendations from your experience?

Thanks!
S

The plain old adwords is always a great start. But if you want to pay for it, I like longtail pro.

Note: I am not affiliated with them in any ways, and I am not using their product as I have written my own tools for that. But they work almost identically, so I can say I like the concept a lot!

Keywords are vital part of any website.you can research best keywords with Google ad word keyword planner because its very easy to use.

Market Samurai is one of the best other keyword research tool.i am using paid version of this. You can try its trial version first.

      Thanks!

I'm already using adwords own tool, and want to expand my search a bit further.

I noticed some of the tools (maybe all of them?) ask me to login to my adwords account in order to get started. Actually i'm a bit hesitating to share my login details with them. do you know if all tools require that? did you had a problem with sharing this info?

      Hi S,

The best keyword tool for AdWords search campaigns, in my opinion, is the AdWords Keyword Planner tool. The reason I like it is that it provides the exact data you need from the only authoritative source for Google search traffic, Google itself.

Of course, like any tool, it is only as good as the skill with which it is used. So learn how to use it well, and I'm sure you will find it as useful as I have.

For my keyword research I use Longtail Pro.
To analyze the competition of the found keywords I recommend SEMRush.

If you are just starting and have a small budget, stay with Adwords keyword planner tool. Google s keyword tool was not that good before but they changed it and it works great for small advertisers.

Also, never start with broad match keywords, which will spend your budget in no time. I would start with broad match modifiers (+ in front of each keyword) or stick with phrase and exact match and see how the outcome will be.

It is always good to start slow and grow gradually as you see conversions.

You don't need a keyword research tool...
The free research tool provided by Google is good enough.

I think that the Keyword Planner from Google is pretty much oriented to PPC campaigns and they don't show the correct competition.

Google Adwords Keyword Planner is a good place to start but if you know how to use it. Yes it is free and it can help you allot.
I'm using the paid version of Market Samurai and this product is just awesome. It shrinks the long hours of Google Adwords Keword Planner research to just a few minutes on every single targeted keyword. This is how I get all the info I need about a certain topic or niche. SEO seach values, competition analysis, keyword values...
Just go to their page and download the free copy and use it for some time. You will get a clear picture after a while about what this product does.
Good Luck and happy keyword hunting!

    Hi,
I am new to research tools, and I was wondering what you think of the scraper from scrapebox to get long tails and then Traffic Travis to analyze the data.
    Thanks,

For me, the best place to start is always Keyword planner especially as it's free. Problem is that it just doesn't deep enough. No matter what niche you're researching there are always a ton of longtail keywords that it will just not uncover.

    My suggestion:

    1. Use keyword planner to find your high level seed keywords.
    2. Throw the seed keywords into a tool like ubersuggest or keyword shitter. This will uncover lots of longtail keywords that you just wouldn't have found using keyword planner.
    3. Then download your huge list of keywords and then upload back into keyword planner as a csv and it will find the search volumes for all of them.
    4. Longtail pro is really good as this will go one step further and calculate and competitiveness score for each of your keywords. This is the method that works for me.

  • One good research tool we have been using for so long is Keyword Canine. It is a really good tool, it digs keywords according to how they were searched in search engines plus other important details such as the backlink details of top results and competition. Also, it gives you a run through of good niches to build in case you are planning on building a site.

    Hope this helps!
