Why are Facebook Ads so Expensive?`

Hey Warriors,

I'll admit it, I've never seriously gotten into FB ads. This was my mistake.

When I did 'test' it out briefly however, I'm pretty sure that the clicks weren't as high as they are now.

When going back to my old test campaigns from 1-2 years ago, it seems that the lowest I can manually bid for keywords is about $0.85 no matter the campaign or audience, even when I try some unconventional combinations.

Is anyone else experiencing high CPC's? Or has it always been like this?

Any information would be appreciated thanks.

The more narrow you target, the higher the price. The actual CTR and cost also depends very much on the Ad picture.

I relaunched campaigns from a year ago that were getting leads for $0.50 now it's around $2.5 per lead. I don't think they are fatigued, my only explanation is that the competition is up. Organic reach is low, and every company has to spend money to get reach.

Guys facebook changed their marketing style, you need to learn the new ways and targetting and cross targetting. I still get 0.01 per engagement and about 0.16 per view of my website. I do things differently, my formular is event based advertising and not click based advertising. Apart from Facebook I do google Display network and Bing Ads but Facebook is much much easier to convert as the optimisation is within facebook unlike these other networks where you have to test and optimise yourself.

So if you get click above .30 then you are probably doing something wrong.

    Thank You

I was never able to get a positive ROI out of Facebook, I regret the few thousand dollars I wasted there.

For me, a positive ROI with Facebook was also unachievable. However, I didn't pay as much as you did for FB promotion. I think the reason might be what goal you choose in your campaign. I assume a campaign with "Offer claims" might cost more than "Clicks to website".

Another thing I didn't like about Facebook was a tiring acceptance process and subsequent adjustments. It takes lots of time. Of course, I know they do it for their users and their good. But it's funny that one time your ad campaign is rejected and you may not change anything and submit it, and another Facebook account manager may accept it. So, it depends on who your campaign will come across.

incorrect, there is alot of bad advice here.

Basically we test hundreds of campaigns on FB>

To say you test 1 or 2 campaigns, and fail means, you are not a marketer.

Sometimes it take 30-40 campagins, and ads, and pic before we find a winner, and then the clicks get cheaper, and cheaper. You can even set your clicks so you do not go over.

This all comes down to testing, your ad copy, but especially the picture you use.

If you are not testing, throughout the week you are not a true marketer, but LAZY!

Seriouly, if you want to know how we get about 8cent clicks or likes you need to test your ass off.

you set daily limits, and give in your headline 3 benefits.....so like this.

"The secret to the perfect abs, in just 7 minutes per day! Free Report"

I mean, you get the idea. There are about 10 combinations of that headlines, if you sit there, and work it out.

But the real secret advice I will give is that you need to narrow your target down, Our testing, with the most users on fb is the ages of 34-60, those cheap come cheaper, and with testing, its an effing gold mine if done right.

BING and FB right now are killer, if you are after cheap traffic, but do not sit there for 5 minutes and slap up and ad, and think you will get rich. I have worked my ass off to get 8cent clicks, and I cannot get it lower than that.

    Hope it helps.

I`m thinking about FB ads, which are still "magic" for me. I spend most of my time learning what is important to make it right, when to close campaign and eventually test another one, what numbers to look at in order to not over pay or end too quick due to limit. What is requirement about pictures size, text on it etc. These are my "mini" research now before I jump into the FB ads wagon.
I know it works if done correctly and I`m aware it might cost more than I think at the beginning.

Any advise would be appreciated. Right now I have only YouTube where guys try to explain things.

P.S. I tried to check on FB what is like to Start Ad. Whatever I choose in menu, it always shows me not enough Likes or some kind of Pixels, (something like this) even though I enter my website URL. URL don`t need Likes. Is FanPage required for each ad? I don`t want to make 10s of FP for each product or service to promote. It would be crazy.

Well, i don't think they are as expensive as you think or/and when compared to adword.

Yes, it could be a little overboard when you are promoting your site directly or targeting a high competitive region.

The problem is, there traffic isn't as effective as adword.

I consider them good for brand promotion, entertainment and such.

I don't think so. I have just completed my campaigns. Only $0.15. The most important is the way you target your audience.
