Hi Everyone,

I was introduced to adwords, google analytics and share a sale ( affiliate programme ) by a friend of mine. However, I do not understand the significance of the metrics i.e. impressions , CPC etc. Could someone provide me with some advice on how to understand whether my current keywords and ad campaigns are actually producing good results. At the moment I'm getting 162k Impressions by only 28/29 clicks.

Also could you give me some feedback on my blog Link Batteries - Empowering People #PowerOnTheGo, I need help identifying a niche market at the moment the blog is very general discusses all bits and pieces.

Thanks, looking forward to your responses

    Hi Panashe Mabvaro,

What Is The Significance of Metrics In An AdWords Campaign?

The metrics you find in your AdWords account will help you gain an understanding of how your campaign is performing against your goals. The significance of each metric will vary a great deal based on the goals of your campaign. Without a goal your metrics have little significance because there is no clear objective for your campaign.

The first step to having a successful campaign is to define your primary business objective and set a goal that you want to achieve. After you have set a goal you can then select the metrics that will best inform you of your progress toward that goal.

For example, let's say that your goal is to increase the number of readers of your blog by 1000/day within the next 30 days. You could then measure the average number of impressions/day needed to gain a single new daily reader and then compare that number to what you are actually achieving in your campaign.

Once placed within the context of a specific goal the significance of your your metrics will become quite clear. Specific opportunities for improving performance will become apparent as well.

    Feedback On Your Blog

I took a quick look at your blog, but without any context for what you are trying to achieve I can offer only very general comments.

I didn't like hat you were trying to force me to submit to your request to subscribe to your newsletter before I could read your blog, that approach will likely turn off most first time visitors.

I found your headlines quite boring. A good headline should make a bold statement, or ask an intriguing question, anything short of that and you are just boring your audience to death. I really didn't go any further than scanning your headlines because I didn't find anything that interested me.
