Variety of questions relating to Bing text ads

Hey everyone,

I'm completing an analysis of all PPC text / in-content / PPV networks out there (Adwords, Bing, 7search, 50onRED, MediaTraffic, Propel Media, ZeroPark etc) and I have a few questions regarding Bing. From what I'm reading, Bing is the "new Adwords" as it seems that they have picked up, where Adwords left affiliates.

According to Bing guidelines, the Destination URL must match the Display URL - which technically means that direct-linking to offers is allowed.

However after speaking to an Ad Specialist at the Bing Partners team, they said "no it's not".

So my questions are:
  1. Can you directly link to offers via Bing?
  2. If you decide to add a value page between a direct Clickbank offer, and your ad -- what's a common strategy you use to add value on top of the Clickbank, Amazon offer page?

    1. Yes, you can direct link to offers via Bing, unless there happens to have been a recent change in Bing's policy. I can't find anything on Google that says there has been.

    2. A common strategy is to have a sales page that pre-warms the visitors to the product so they'll be intrigued to find out more about it. Another option is to have a review of the product, but that only tends to work well if the visitor has already heard about the product.

Probably misunderstood or doesn't know what he's talking about. More likely, he doesn't understand the policy and assumes, like many others, that it's not allowed.

To be clear, yes you can direct link in both Bing and Adwords.

For 2, basically what cooler said. But when the visitor is ready to buy (I assume you have a buy button or something similar), you cannot send them to the affiliates sales page. That's called a bridge page. What to do? Simple, send them to the checkout and let them pay or download or whatever it is. But don't send them to the affiliate's sales page.

Thanks for the reply. Your 2nd point leads to another question of mine: Doorway/bridge page, or not? Adwords

Yes you can directly link offers to bing, and as cooler1 said, make a warm up page for your products first.

Warm up, meaning landing page with opt-in form?
