Hi everyone,

I'm a novice practitioner of internet marketing and I just got a campaign creation proposal from a client. The problem is I'm a complete newbie in PPC marketing, so I'd appreciate your opinion on my case.

The situation is the following:

My client is a Human Resources company, and their manager wants to increase the sales of their recruitment and selection services for the end of the year.

The demand for that kind of service usually sees a spike at the end of the year, because the commerce gets warmer, thus hiring increases. They want to take advantage of this window.

My buyer personas are very broad, since many different businesses will have hiring needs. To get bigger deals, we're aiming for big and medium sized companies.

Since we don't have much time, I was thinking about Linkedin and Google Ads to drive traffic to a landing page, but I'm open for every suggestion.

It would be awesome if you guys could give me a hand with your thoughts on that. As I said, I'm a completely newbie in PPC and I can't screw this up because this client has alot of potential.

I'm open for suggestions on articles, strategies, etc... What would you do in my place?

I'm really thankful for your time. This Forum is awesome

So they hired you with no proven track record? Your best option would be to team up with someone that knows what they are doing.

    Hi Rafael,

While learning the AdWords interface is not too challenging, it will take most people a couple of weeks to get really familiar with it. However, learning how to develop a marketing plan based on a winning strategy takes a lot of expertise. You are not likely to get to that level within 6 months, for most people it takes a couple of years to develop the marketing savvy to effectively compete in a highly competitive niche.

A basic campaign is not that hard to setup and with the proper advice and a small budget you can begin the process of learning how manage a campaign. The problem is that there are more than a hundred ways that you are likely to make a mistake that will end up costing your client a lot of money, and may cause you to lose your client.

You have a steep learning curve ahead of you and going it alone may not end up well. Your best bet is to partner up with an agency and try to find an experienced team that has a great strategist. Marketing is a competition, and PPC advertising is one of the most competitive advertising channels. You have to beat your competitors with a superior strategy and competently executed tactics.

      Hey guys,

      Thanks alot for the answers.

I'm probably going to look for some partnership, since I cannot risk screwing up with this client.

  • Hi Rafael. I'm trying to figure out how, if you are a newbie, did you get a proposal from a client? I suppose they don't know you're a newbie or don't care.

If they don't care, they probably soon will as you are likely to not do a good job and cost them lots of money. If they don't know, as Solar suggested, hire someone and keep that client happy. The worse for you that will happen if you don't is that you will lose a valuable client. The worse for them is they will think this PPC thing doesn't work for them, never trust it again or trust other PPC managers, business will be stagnant or decrease and they'll eventually be out of business. So not a good thing for either of you.

Don is right too that it takes time to reach a competent level, months or even years. Heck, I still learn a new thing or two all the time and I've been doing this for years.

Looks like you took previous advice and will be looking for a partnership. I think that is the most sensible thing to do.

the situation you are in is really serious. as a newbie you landed yourself a big client which is a good thing whereas being new to this thing you obviously are not good enough as compared to the old ones in this field. there is not enough time for you to learn and do it right as it takes week, months and at times years to reach proficiency and even then there are always new things that are coming up for you to learn. the firm yet does not know that hiring you is such a big risk for them thats why they did. your best chance is to team up with someone who knows what to do and how to do it. this way you can make the client happy while learn something yourself.

You are only newbie, but you already had a big clents. That's great! It also a chanllenge for yo. If you can help them as their target, you will lose them. It will be a big problem. You should hire another company or person who will do everything for you.

    Hi Rafael,
Listen you really should partner up with someone
if that client of yours really that big and important for you.

Plus, while you do so, start to learn that field
better and yeah Adwords can help but you need
to learn how it works and what to do and what not to do
and that takes time and experience.

    Wish you good luck.
