Adwords Email Targeting -- Customer Match Not Delivering

My email list uploaded successfully yesterday and shows a list size of 2,400. I targeted a Search Network Ad that was already in place. Checking the stats today, the ad itself is delivering, but when I go to that audience the stats show zero. How can I get ads delivered to my email list?

    Hi Jodie,

From what I could gather in your post, it sounds like you setup RLSA targeting for an an ad group in an existing search campaign. When using RLSA targeting this way it simply allows you to make a bid adjustment for your RLSA audience segment.

An alternative method is to setup a campaign just for targeting your RLSA audience and nothing else. This can be effective when targeting broad related terms that would normally be too broadly targeted outside the scope of your audience list.

Please clarify which targeting strategy you wanted to use.

Also, bare in mind that you are targeting a small audience, and ads will only be triggered if someone within that audience actually performs a search on the Google search network that is also triggered by your keyword targeting. It could result in very few impressions unless you go much broader in your keyword targeting selections.

You might want to consider creating a Remarketing campaign for the Display network as this will allow you to reach your targeted audience list wherever they my be looking on the web, You will likely get far more impressions, and it will always be limited to just the audience list you are targeting, provided that is how you set it up.

A note of caution: AdWords, by default, will select the option to find new customers based on your audience list profile, you may want to uncheck that option if your want to keep your targeting tightly focused on just your selected audience list.

    Hi Don,

    Aha! I get it now!

Yes, remarketing for the Display Network is exactly what I want to do. So I just set it up. Set my daily budget at $30 and unchecked the find new customers option.

Should I set up another Ad Group to include new customers?

A million thanks for clarifying this!

      Hi Jodie,

      Glad I could help.

There are a couple of audience list that get created automatically by AdWords whenever you setup a Remarketing campaign and add Remarketing tags to your website:

      1. All users
      2. All converted users

You can of course create as many other audience list segments as you like based on behavior, and define the number of days (within limits) that audience members remain on the list.

Here are some common audience list examples:
      • Users who dropped out of a funnel
      • Users who abandoned items in their shopping carts
      • Users who searched the site but did not convert
      • Users who viewed any page in a directory
      • Users who viewed a specific page
      • Users who have converted
      • High-value users

This link will show you how to setup common audience lists based on user behavior:
