Something Crucial Most People Miss With PPC Marketing

I wanted to talk about something that a lot of business owners miss big time when doing pay per click.

Really, a lot of business owners miss this fact when doing ppc or any other type of advertising. Plus, was just helping a client with this very thing last week.

What am I speaking about?

I'm talking about knowing your customers buying stages or cycles.

A lot of business owners think that when customers come in to their store or visit their website, they're all at the same "stage", but...

Any customer can be at a different point or cycle in their life. Let me give you a real quick example... Let's say youve been driving your car for a few years now.

You've been thinking about getting a new car, but not in a rush.

Maybe you check the papers now and then. Maybe you drive through a car lot now and then, but not in a hurry. Theyre just browsing.

Now how about this situation...

You have been driving your car for a while. The problem now is that it's older. Youre throwing money in it now and then. You're fixing stuff a couple times a year. Nothing major, but a hassle when it happens. Not really sure you want to have new car payments and deal with a down payment at all.

Maybe you browse online, check out a couple dealerships, but youre not pulling the trigger without a killer deal or your car breaking down.

Now how about this last situation....

The car is junk now. Youre always throwing major cash at it. The thing breaks down all the time and is no longer dependable. The car is keeping you from getting to work all the time and etc...

Do you see that during each of these situations, we're still doing similar things?

Were checking online, maybe talking to dealerships, hitting some of the papers, but...

If you had to bet, which of those 3 "stages" or "buying cycles" do you think would be most likely to buy a newer car from a dealership? Number 3 of course. That car example can be applied to your business.

No matter what you sell. Now I know some of you are thinking..."That's great Eric, but I don't sell cars". Again

That car example can be applied to your business. No matter what you sell. Just by simply realizing that people are in different buy cycles or buying stages when they come to you...

You can come up with marketing or sales steps to move those people closer to the must have or buying now stage.

I know a lot of you want to sell to everyone the same way, but simply by setting up different "stages" of marketing-sales steps and pieces

You can quickly bring in more sales from potential buyers in all those different stages. Plus...

You can start looking at the buying stages or cycles to quickly start attracting more results and sales from the potential buyers ready to buy now.

That was a side nugget for you so that can definitely put some major cash in your pocket-whenever you think about it and use it in your ppc campaign-or any other form of marketing.

    Hi fasteasysuccess,

Sounds like you are trying to describe full-funnel marketing.

Full-funnel marketing targets potential customers at each stage of the purchase cycle, often represented as a marketing funnel. It's one of the core concepts of basic marketing.

The general idea is to tailor your ad campaigns for each stage of the marketing funnel.

It was originally introduced to the advertising community as the AIDA model in 1898.

    A - Awareness
    I - Interest
    D - Desire
    A - Action

Naturally, all marketing concepts can and should be applied to PPC advertising and the common terminology used by marketers today is Full-funnel marketing.

Most marketers practicing full-funnel marketing have developed separate strategies for each phase of the marketing funnel.

Top of Funnel: - Branding & Awareness campaigns
Middle of funnel: - Generic Keyword campaigns
Bottom of Funnel: - Branded Keyword campaigns & Remarketing campaigns

This is of course is a highly simplified explanation, but hopefully you get the general idea from it.

    HTH,

    Don Burk

Actually Don, no i'm not talking about full funnel marketing. Exactly like said, I'm explaining the buying cycles of customers at certain points. To help a lot of people understand that not everyone is at same stage or cycle when advertising to them.

You don't need to go after each stage or everyone, can choose to target certain parts of the cycle desire to bring in customers. You can start at the bottom where you're educating people or even go right to top when people know, want and ready to buy.

However, with the full funnel marketing you're explaining, can be used to go after every stage of the cycle to reach each person at different points and bring them up your funnel to the buying stage.

The main point of my post is to make everyone realize simply, not everyone is at same point of the cycle and to make sure targeting the cycle or cycles desire corectly.

You can't market to everyone the same way when at different stages if trying to get the best results.
