Our company has an ad platform that can insert localization and dynamic creative to ads(run on any platform) pulling from our database of trade promotions.

We're looking to show a client in Chicago how much reach they can attain targeting millennials and what their approximate CPM spend would be based on that targeting and reach. They have a maximum ad spend of $47500, but we charge 60 cents cpm, so I would need to show what their total costs would be with our costs added in. Let me know if that makes any sense.

Is there a way to estimate the cost without running an actual ad? Thanks.

  • There's nothing like real-world data. That means running ads. Sure, there is data available that can give you a rough idea but running online ads is not static, both on your end and the competitors. So I wouldn't say that any number is going to be exactly what you'll be paying.

I'm not clear what your question is. You say you charge 0.60 CPM so that's the cost they see. Probably doesn't matter to the client as they have a set budget. The only thing most clients want to see is a reasonable profit at the end. Therefore CPC or CPM is basically irrelevant. They will have spent the $47k regardless. The CPC will determine how many visitors they get but if none convert, it just won't matter. If they double their money, that's a success, whether the CPC was 0.60 or 0.80
