How to track Facebook ads app install attribution without third parties?

When it comes to Facebook app install campaigns, we are currently relying on AppsFlyer to get campaign information for app install attribution. However, using third party services when you have thousands of app installs can get expensive. Appsflyer charges around USD 0.05 for each non-organic app install.

How can we fetch this data directly for app install attribution without using third party measurement tools like AppsFlyer?

    Hi ravimittal,

Facebook has an SDK for that:

    https://developers.facebook.com/docs/app-ads/sdk

On a side note, it appears that Facebook has a revenue sharing plan with 3rd party tracking services like AppsFlyer, so they actively strip tracking parameters that you would normally use in a marketing Analytics app, apparently to boost revenue to their partner merchants.

Facebook operates like any other walled garden type service (think AOL) once they get you into their universe everything you do is to benefit Facebook, true 3rd party verification isn't really possible, there is a reason many people refer to FB as Fakebook, tracking results from ad spend has never been reliable or even close to accurate in FB, I'm not saying they deliberately pad their results, but it is funny how it is always way off in one direction only.

    HTH,

    Don Burk

      Hi Don,

Thanks for the reply. After I posted this question here, I went through blogs of some analytics companies and they have also mentioned the same.

Facebook is really a walled garden which will not give our ad performance, basic campaign information without using some third parties like Appsflyer. It is really pathetic to see this. Comparing to this, Google Adwords has greater transparency.

      Thanks for the answer though!
