I typed in my PIP site title "affliate internet business marketing promotion onlne" this AM, and I got the biggest rush of my 6 month PIP experience. There it was; My PIP site was on page 1 of Google at the #8 spot. I've been tweaking and playing with different aspects of what my perception of Google's seo verses ranking criteria work and do not work and this is very rewarding to see this result. However: . I have put all this energy into getting traffic and I have No conversions. I have 123 sign ups so far in my getresponse account, but no downline. If any fellow PIP member have time, please look at my home page and let me know what changes you would make to focus the views to sign ups. Sometimes I think the adsense is too distracting as well as the flashing banner for reverse funnel. Appreciating any and all opinions Steid |

Hi Steid, That's awesome! 123 signups so far in your GetResponse is really, really good! As people say, the money's in the list. And you have a list. Of 123 people. I highly suggest you make full use of it! If you think the adsense is too distracting as well as the flashing banner, do adjustments as required and do your testings. Find out which works better for you. Asher |

Hi Steid, I had a similar experience to you....see my blog post about it. Is Your Business Making Money Online? | www Home Business Your site looks fine, but I am guessing you are not getting the traffic, even though you are on page 1 of Google. have you tried promoting anything directly to your list via a GR broadcast? also - check your keywords in the google keyword tool for searches on that term - Im not sure how many people will actually type all that in! so, its great to be on page 1 but if no-one is searching for that term - you wont get any organic traffic anyway! do your keyword research again and see what you think! It's true, you can be on page one and even be number one and get almost no visitors from your key word term. I was number one for 3-4 months for "stay at home moms business opportunity" and I'm still near the top but I only got 7-10 visitors a month for the phrase. I would suggest now that your phrase is on the first page is that you start using variations of it. Start focusing on "affiliate Internet business" or "affiliate marketing online" or another combination. You'll find as you change up your keywords you'll start being listed on page one for all sorts of crazy searches you never even thought of. The more keywords the better. |

Being listed on page one of Google is great but as Jeff said, it must be for a keyword phrase that people are searching for. The phrase you say you are listed for doesn't look like it's one that would get very many searches.

Hi, That's great and I am sure you have worked hard but as Jeff and Stephen have said, it's one thing to get page one listing for your keyword phrase but how many people are searching for that phrase. It is only when you look for the common phrases that people use that you see where you really are, keep experimenting with you keywords and you will start to get better page ranking and more hits. One good place to go is a site like SEOBook.com Put in the keyword and it will tell you how many searches on each major search engine and lots of other info too. Then the thinking is don't use the most popular or the least, but something around the middle to have a better chance at the competition. I think that is a pretty good long tail keyword phrase you have and maybe just switchig a few words out will make it more powerful. As well arranged differently you could still rank for some words within the phrase like internet business if for instance that is a popular search term. I am sorry and I don't mean to make fun of you, but I remember someone somewhere that was just so thrilled that they had found that they were on page one for their own name. Well hello, who else would be there with your name? It was sad pointing that out to him, but still kind of funny... |

Thank you all for your veri valuable insight. If I change my keyords, should I lso change the title of the site to match the keywords? Also, how many keywords are acceptable in the meta tags, 5, 25, 125 ? Thanks Steid |

When you are adding keywords don't get rid of the one's you are currently ranking for. Instead add the new words in. It doesn't hurt to have a Title with more than one keyword phrase. I am using 3 in my Title. I did remove the one mentioned above but it is still scattered on my front page. When making your Title and Meta tag use the | in between words instead of a comma. It should look like, fishing | hook| worms| sinkers, when it is finished. Add your keywords into your content and alt= tags for your images. You don't have to rewrite the entire article or introduction. Just find places where your keywords can be added yet it will still sound natural. Make sure the left column has your keywords first or close to the top and then the in the top, middle, and end content of your site. Steid, you have done good getting ranked for keywords even if they don't draw much traffic. Google has noticed you and given you a good ranking. All you have to do now is build on what you have started. That's the way it should be done. I have seen experienced marketers use a lot of keywords while others only use a few in their Meta tag, I would stick with 5-7 and make sure they are relevant to your front page. Most say Meta tags don't hold much weight any longer but I'm not sure that's true since everyone still uses them. |

Yes Stephen you are right. However, I just read a post in the main forum about 'keyword stuffing' and getting slapped for that big time - so however many keywords you use in the meta tags, be sure the same words are on your site in the content. |

Also to add, I would say it does not have to be only on your main site that you do all the keyword stuffing. Other avenues to use relevant keywords to attract traffic to your main site include your blog, your articles etc. I have seen many cases where if you get to the main site, not many of the keywords are noticed and yet they rank very highly for those keywords. Apparently, another medium had been used to funnel traffic into the main website. |
