Default Newbie With PIPS- Need Some Advice

Hey everyone, Will here. Need some advice on how exactly to start promoting my site. I joined PIPS a few weeks ago and have completed the steps in the first few days of the 30 day program but am hesitant to continue with the default website he gives us. Stone says towards the beginning of his 30 day guide that you can of course edit the website and make changes to it but to do it later on and to follow his training program first. However, wouldn't it be better to make changes to the site first so people that see my site once I promote it will see a unique one?, not one that's been replicated all over the internet. I'm afraid to waste money and time promoting my site as it is when I feel it may not make as many sales as opposed to if I made changes to it and really made it my own. Or maybe I'm just wrong with assuming this. If anyone could lead me in the right direction and let me know what worked for them that would be great. Thanks everyone and good luck to you all.

Hi Will,

A very big welcome to PIPS.

Okay, this is my view, there will almost certainly be others who come along and offer theirs.

First off, Stone is right, you can always make changes to your website later!

However, the first thing you should pay attention to is the SEO of your website. You need the search engines to recognise you are there etc. My advice here is read the SEO ebook by Suzanne morrison - see this thread http://www.warriorforum.com/plug-pro...te-owners.html

Once you are happy with your seo work, you should concentrate on getting traffic to your website:

Blogging
Article marketing
Social bookmarking etc ......there are many threads in the forum relating to traffic generation.......just spend some time in here researching.

Now I fully understand you wanting to make changes to your website first, but honestly, this can be done bit by bit as you go along. After all, what use is the best website in the world if it has no visitors?

Traffic generation takes a bit of time to master, so this is where you should focus.

Once again, welcome to PIPS and I look forward to seeing you around.

Graham

Are you looking for a business opportunity that’s property related? Well, the answer may be closer than you think – right on your doorstep perhaps. In fact, there’s money to be made anywhere you see a property for sale. Let me explain…

Hi Will,
Graham gave you a good advice.

Yes you should change the looks of your site, but it can wait. Stat with the small things,SEO, change the title and headlines in your site, and rewrite the text, add articles of your own and SEO them too.

In the future you can change your website completely. You can start with a free website template, do a short search on google and you will find many websites that offer free downloadable templates.

I agree Will, concentrate on traffic, then start to make changes. Do your SEO and title, make some small changes as you need, then when you are getting good traffic to your site you can consider making big changes.

Hola Will

Your post brought me memories when I first started. To get your site known you need to make sure you participate in any Social Media there is out there (Blogs, Articles, Press Releases, YouTube and more), use them as “social Parties”, do NOT advertise about your company but rather socialize and give people values, and from there “FUNNEL them” to your site.
Hope you success.

While all of the above is true, the sales page is the one that you should be focusing on marketing as you SEO your site or make other changes as you go along.

The sales page has proven to produce the highest conversion in that it is a direct response format. There is nothing to change there so you can just go for it.

Of course your site is where you want to do your long-term strategies, backlinking from blogs and articles, using SEO, etc.

One of my most used cliches' is 'doesn't matter what your site looks like if nobody sees it.' (nobody will see it unless you promote it)

The SEO changes recommended above will make your site unique to the search engines and that is what counts. Of course it is fun to make cosmetic changes as you go along and learn more about HTML.

The bottom line is marketing marketing and then when you get done, marketing.

Just do it!

Welcome to the PIPS forum Will. You have received top notch suggestions and guidance so far. I will just add that you MUST make yourself a BUDGET and STICK to it. Use as many free methods as you can and you do not have to buy into everything in the 30-day training.

Hope to see you around the forum

Leon

Thanks again for everyone's advice on here. I am working through Suzanne Morrison's "Search Engine Optimization for the Plug-In-Profit Site" and have picked out a keyword phrase that I'd like to try to optimize my site for, but have run into a problem with unzipping my files. She suggests you use WinZip to do this, but I have a mac and according to a mac forum I visited when I first had this problem it says you can just right click any file or folder and hit "compress" and that will extract the file. I have never "unzipped" a file before but I know you need to in order to open a text file with all the html code on it, but when I click my index.html folder (which I thought would bring me to this) it just brings me to my website. I probably have just done this all wrong, as the title of the thread suggests I am still a newbie! But I was hoping some of you may be mac users and know what problem I'm having and how to fix it? Any attempt to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated so I can get this underway. Thanks.

I also agree.. concentrate on the traffic and then rearrange your site.. and after that, advertise your site.. use backlinks...
