So, trying to decide if I should keep my Blogger blog, or switch to Wordpress. Place your vote for either one, please include your reason (ease of use, formatting, etc) Thanks! Aaron |

I like WordPress because of all the features, like widgets, and the fact that it is just more 'slick' (like a luxury car vs. econobox) However for newbies I recommend Blogger because there is no installation and no hosting account necessary. Blogger is adding features to compete with WordPress, and it is getting better, but I still feel it does not yet have equal functionality... |

You can export you blogger blogs to WordPress and pick a new theme from a large library (larger by far than Blogger) - I don't think you can export the template. It is almost exactly the same as far as using it to post blogs. So the learning curve is just about the installation, which is worth it because of the ease with which you can custom design your template when you get to that. ... but stick with what you've got if you feel more comfortable for now - I know it is fun and gratifying to grow in technical ways and definitely good to know how to change your site, blogs, etc. but the m-o-n-e-y comes from traffic and marketing. Once you have lots of things going to promote your blog, site, sales page, etc., then you have plenty of time to work on cosmetic changes... |

Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Start a blogger blog because it is user friendly and will help you approve your adsense account faster. WP has better features and you can remove the nofollow tag. I am using blogger and thinking about starting a WP blog, it just me being lazy. Tanny |

I think it depends on your technical understanding. I have both blogs but WP has more functionality than blogger and it is pulling more traffic. So when you are comfortable you may consider WP. Wait for more votes! Charles |

Hello: I still use Blogger because that was what was set up for me when I first started with PIPS. Many of my marketing friends use both Blogger and Wordpress to take advantage of features with each. I wrote a blog post about this last week that includes several quotes from experienced PIPS members. You are welcome to read the post here: Blogger vs. WordPress: Which is Best? GT |

I'm assuming you're referring to the Wordpress hosted version? In that case then yes, they can shut your blog down and suspend your account. What the OP is referring to is the self-hosted version of Wordpress, which would reside on your own domain. You have full control and no one can wipe your blog out for any reason. I recommend going this route for numerous reasons. Getting a domain and hosting is very cheap these days. | |

I'm a huge fan of Wordpess. I started with Blogger like most people and then decided to switch to Wordpress. I still have my Blogger blog and will occasionally update it. If you're interested in why I choose Wordpress over Blogger you may want to view this thread. It also gives pros and cons for both: View topic - Poll: Blogger or Wordpress Blog? • Entrepreneur Forums • |

I have both blogs, although I haven't used Blogger as often as I used to. They both get indexed fairly quickly but Wordpress blows Blogger away with ease of use and the amount of options offered. Matt |

In my opinion, WORDPRESS - hands down. Like all Pipsters, I started with Blogger, but after a few months I got my blog locked and eventually banned. I never found out why. With my self hosted WP blogs I don't worry about loosing all my hard work and effort and I now prefer everything that WP offers over Blogger. Again, just my opinion. Allen |

Hi, I have no issue with either one. Sometimes it comes down to simple compatibility with the user.... Take care Jeff Casmer |

Thanks for your opinions! Alan an GT thanks for the reads, very good! The reason I was wondering about this is there seems to be a lot more tools/widgets/plugins for WP. Pat, your right about traffic coming before tech, and I'm just starting to get some good traffic. WP can wait for now.... |

Personally, Wordpress rules. I started with Blogger but once I got into WP, I never looked at blogger again & now i'm not even sure how effective it (Blogger) is. So, I'll say WP is better by far. You can change the look of your blog in secs, you have a plugin for just about anything you want for your business - be it optin boxes, tweeting your blog updates, banner rotator, themes, you name it. I bet there's soo much more we can do with WP compared to Blogger...

Self-hosed WordPress is well worth the effort to learn. If setup and used correctly you will see much more traffic from a WP blog on your site than you will with Blogger.

Hi, I prefer WordPress - much more flexible, a wide variety of themes and plugins readily available, more search engine friendly (e.g. seo plugins & configurable permalinks). I have both blogger and WordPress blogs. The blogger ones are ones that I started many years ago. I don't plan on switching these to WordPress as I am getting good traffic to them and don't want to risk a drop in traffic. Whenever I start a new blog or site I use WordPress over blogger for the above reasons. Cheers, Suzanne |

So, it sounds like the smart thing to do here is not switch a blog over, but use WP next time I start a new blog...

A very interesting discussion, especially for a newbie. Good to have a consensus. If you've got blogger keep it! If you start anew use Wordpress. Great. Thanks to all for the tip. John |
