Hi all. I am nowhere near done with the revamped version of my site, which will be totally altered. However, I have created a site logo that to me looks pretty cool, but then I can't see well at all, and I have virtually no color vision anymore, so I would like your opinions on it. I stuck it on my personal website, which is technically where it doesn't belong but it can stay there for a bit. I need you guys to have a look and tell me if it's ok or whatever. The URL where it can be found is: http://www.zhuuraan.info/images/wahoositelogo.gif Please don't be too critical, snce I did it with limited sight, but do feel free to tell me if something about it should be changed, or if I should just totally junk it and start again. Thanks in advance for your insights, and I want to hear from newbies and experienced PIPsters alike! |

BTW, I'll keep it where it is for a few days while I am getting input on it, but then I'm taking it down so if the link suddenly doesn't work at some point, that's why.

HI, I believe you tried to keep the loggo not too complicated and more simple, which is cool. The only one thing I can suggest is to make it a little more sophisticated. Use some different words, or images that are different than most of the other logos advertising home bussines opportunities. Something like home=time=ideas=convert=$, or something like that ![]() Best of luck |

Hi zhuuraan, I also thing this logo is too simple. You need to think about the over-whole look of you website once you change it. Right now you have the default pips site and it is red. The tone of green you chose doesn't fit it. It is also too small. There are many websites to help you generate a new header for your site for free, I suggest searching for one and use it. free headers - Google Search You may also consider searching for a new website template, there are many website that offer free downloads, you just have to find them. free website templates - Google Search Tanny |

Ametis, I haven't yet read other responses but I thought I'd reply to you rq. If other people tell me the same, I will consider it. However, I don't think I want a catchy logo. The point of a logo is not to draw attention. You want attention drawn to your content or newsletter signup area, not the logo. I think it's good to have a logo, but that shouldn't be the major attention grabber on the page. Anyway I have a few more replies to read, so I will see what they say. Thanks for your input! |

Hi cvetanski, Thanks for your input. As I said, I am visually impaired, so I can't do anything too fancy primarily because I can't see colors. For the ones I used, I had to look up the RGB codes. I was also using a program caled AAA Logo, which is nice for making a nice looking logo fairly quick without much hassle, but of course isn't quite as flexible as knowing graphic design or whatever. Still, that shape and all were the nicest looking thing I could find, at least to me. Thanks for the comment though. I intend to kind of combine everyone's comments at the end, and probably use the ones that are repeated most frequently if I am able. But even changing the colors or whatever would be doable, if I had the RGB codes for good colors. I just can't see them to tell how it looks anymore. I used to, but my color vision is nearly shot! Anyway, I'll shut up now and go read more replies. hehe |

tplahav, I don't want an existing template. I want something that is alll my own. As for the green, I don't understand your argument. I said that I am totally revamping my site, completely altering it from the default site, yet you comment about the default site which I will not be using. As for the simplicity, as I said without being able to see better, I am not able to make a nicer looking logo, and I don't think the logo is where people's eyes should be anyway. Still, if you have any specific suggestions I would be happy to hear them. Thanks |

Oh, and on the size, I will see about making it a little bigger. The problem with that is that I use magnification when I browse the web, as well as when I was creating that, and for just about everything else, so I estimated by the sizes of logos I have seen around based on how they look with magnification. I'm unable to make an accurate judgment from a sighted perspective. Is it way too small, or just a little bit? How much should I enlarge it? |

Hi - Try this neat, free little tool called ColorCop. You can make thousands of colors and it gives you the RGB. It'S very easy to even copy/match colors - it has a little dropper that you can place on anything to get the RGB. Color Cop - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com I like the green and the whole color scheme AND simplicity - The colors could be brighter though and I am always partial to red used somehow (and they say it is 'magic' for a website) - so don't know how you could get some red on your site or logo but maybe you can try. GOOD JOB! Quote:

Thanks patricia. I might grab that program. However, it's good to know I'm not the only one who is ok with the simplicity. I do plan on having a little more red on my site, probably the same shade. If I put a diff shade, I'll prolly change the logo. I know it could be better, but I don't think it's that bad, especially for not being able to see well. Do you agree that it should be bigger? I wouldn't know how it looks from a fully sighted perspective, so dunno, but I don't think a simple logo should be too big and flashy, since it's not the primary attention getter reallly. Still, I'd be happy to hear your thoughts. |

Hmm, so Pat likes the simplicity, but many of you think it's too simple. Trouble is, I did the best I could with the limited sight and resources I have. I don't really know what else to do, and NOBODY has given me anything specific to change. So, unless I hear specific suggestions, I guess I'll have to keep it the way that it is. I'll keep checking back for specifics for a day or two and go from there. Thanks. |

Hi Zhuuraan, I think you should give it a shot on your site and see how it's working for you after a few weeks. It's simple but I so understand what your going for. Also if you have any kind of a budget theres a great site called 99designs. People compete to make your logo, you pick out the one you like best and then reward(pay) the person. It's like a contest but you get to view all kinds of designs first for your website ![]() Best Regards, Gary |

I personally think it' hard to judge the logo alone, without seeing it in the context of the site. Some think it's to simple, but it may sit on the page and compliment it's surroundings. Some don't like the colors, but those colors may match or compliment the other colors you use on your site. A logo doesn't have to be the only focal point of a website, but it's there to be noticed, or we would'nt bother having one right? I think as long as it flows well with the rest of the page, that's what matters. One thing that I think is important is the wording in the logo. Are the words "Work at Home Opportunities Online" in the main title/header of your new site? I think it's important that if a logo has a lot of wording in it, then it should be descriptive of the site it represents. If this logo does that, then great. Aaron |

Hey zhuuraan, I think it looks good but it is maybe a little too simple... If you want I can try and create one for you, if you'd like... PM with some details and I will create a basic. What size, colors, and ideas you have and I will put one together for you. Matt |

Thanks Pat, Changing the size is definitely something I can do. All I have to do for that is to resize it, which is a relatively simple matter. I'll do that and then see what you guys think. I'll post again here when it's done. |

Aaron, Yes, as far as the text of the logo, the words will be in the site and that is actually part of the keywords I am optimizing for. Not all of it, but some anyway. I believe I put that as my alt tag too, but if not I will. I'll at least resize it, as per a couple of suggestions, and go from there. |

Oh right, lmao of course I haven't done the alt text, because that's just the image alone. I wasn't even thinking straight lol Anyway though I resized it to a web small, and I think the original was email small. Just used the microsoft picture manager to do the resize since it's a quick simple task. Tell me if that's better or too big. I have this sneaking suspicion it's too big, like maybe it should be somewhere in between the old one and the current one. |

How about now? Is the size better? I made it 50% of the size it just was, but it's still bigger than the original.

Perfect Size! ... and that makes the colors more defined too! (we will drive you nuts department: any reason why 'opportunities' is not bold?) |

I'm actually not sure how that happened lol. I created it the exact same way as the other words. I kinda think though that if it were bolded, it might jumble together with some of the other words. I dunno though. Does it look bad that way? If it looks bad, I'll see if I can fix it. |

Yeah I also think the logo is just a little bit too simple and needs to be more catchy and attractive so that straight away it jumps out and gets your attention :-)

Hello Zhuuraan I suggest if your are aiming to generate a lot of income from your website and you are confident that it will do so, you might want to consider having a professional graphic artist design you a logo and header graphic. One person I could recommend whose rates are very good is Michael Ottman (just Google his name). Otherwise, get bids from graphic artists. There must be an equivalent to ellance.com for graphic design. If you you have a colour impairment in your vision, it might be better to trust a graphic artist who has perfect colour vision to design the perfect logo. You should then get opinions of the final result before paying in full. There are times when UGLY sells, but in your case, I think a good looking graphic will assist your website rather than turn people off. All the best, David |

Seedpod, I mentioned earlier that I am visually impaired and also that I am on a budget. I cannot afford to pay someone to make a logo, which is precisely why I am doing it myself. I am on Social Security, which pays a small pittence every month, so until I start making some income, I can't spend anything on this apart from what I have already spent. Thanks for the suggestion though. Pat, I will see about changing opportunities. Maybe what I can do for now is keep my logo as is until I start making some money and then make it something better. |

Hello When I saw the logo, the first thing that draw my attention was the word "Work". To me, it seems like "Wark" instead of "Work". |

It doesn't do much for me. I encourage hiring a graphic designer to create professional images for you. It doesn't do much for me as well. It needs to stand out more. I like creating simple logos for my sites in Photoshop. I created one for you in a few minutes. If you like it just, save it and use it. If you need it with a transparent background let me know. I don't mind helping a fellow Warrior with a simple logo. |

I think you need to make it more inviting. There should be some "call for action" on it as it's passive now. Something like: "Make money from the comfort of your home. Click HERE now!". |

Freshmedia, I thank you for making the logo image. I really appreciate it. However, another forum member sent me a private email with another one they did for me and I think I am going to use it. Still, I think it's awesome that you guys are so willing to help! utipparaju, I did state earlier that I am visually impaired. My whole reason for asking about the logo is that I cannot see it well enough to tell if it's good or not, especially the colors. Therefore, it is impossible for me to do detailed graphics. Now, to the 4 or 5 of you that said to hire a professional, I'm sick of it!!! I said to the first person that mentioned that that I am on a budget which is already exhausted and that I am on SSI and cannot afford to hire professional services. And yet, several of you still insist that I shell out money! I wish you'd all just drop the money thing! It's not like I am proud of my situation! That's why I got into this in the first place, and the money I've spent has gotten me nowhere! I feel as though I have wasted it! I didn't ask to be in this situation and I am looking for a way OUT, NOT DEEPER IN!!!!! So, may I ask that in the future, people who are going to suggest something like that PLEASE READ previous posts to see if it's already been suggested and responded to, PLEASE! I don't mean to yell so much, but it's stressful enough getting less than $700 per month without making it worse by spending more of it. I am sorry if I seem offensive or anything, but all the insisting that I need to put MORE money into it just increases the stress, rather than decreasing it. I barely get by as it is and between my fiance and I combined we barely qualify for an apartment. So please, don't tell me to pay someone again!!!!! |
