We had our website re-designed earlier this year, and had a few issues along the way, not all are sorted out as yet, but most of it is there. However, we have suffered in our rankings on Google, which has only just happended recently. Can anyone give me any recommendations on how to boost our ranking and get Google to re-crawl our site? http://www.sea-band.com I've read some of the previous posts, and there seems to be a lot about blogging/social networks. Our website is fairly static, although I was thinking I could add a page for new press stories, or even a couple of highly targetted pages that are geared towards the individual topics of travel, pregnancy and chemotherapy nausea. Are these good things to do? Or should I be concentrating my efforts elsewhere? Apologies if this is in the wrong place, but this thread got me thinking! - Thanks. |

hello everyone. I am a good samaritan - the value only provider - no link promotions, this is what I have to say: before google crawls your site you want to have backlinks coming to your website.. this is the biggest mistake people make.. when google finds out about your website, google automatically detects the value and importance through how many valuable backlinks you have pointing to your website.. so this is exactly what you do and you will thank me later: 1. submit articles to directories that let you have a backlink to your website 2. post on forums with a link pointing back to your site via signature 3. submit to article directtories 4. dop some blogging or get bloggers to write review about your website 5. the best and last thing is to submit a press release about your website - ver high quality backlink in the eyes of google by the way 6. wait about 20-30 days for all your backinks to propagate around the interent 7. then and only them you make a google account and use google webamster tools to add your site to the google index by adding a google sitemap. this will really make you happy.. believe me just do it.. this is what i do to all my adsens sites that earn me well over 2-3k each per month As for the nature of me just helping, I refuse to post links to services so please google the traffic methods I mentioned and you're good to go, again I am only here to add value not to promote anything cheers; hope this was helpful.. |

I am having a similar issue. My website TheNewLoan Get a free quote. Refinance your home mortgage with a local lender. has been indexed by google but only some of the pages are being scanned. Most of the pages haven't been scanned in 30+ days. I have tried all the basics - submitting sitemaps - pinging google - requesting a reconsideration of my site - optimization etc... Is there anything else I can try? (this is regarding the states section under The New Loan - National Refinance Mortgage Lender, Home Loans, Mortgage Rates ) Thanks, Anthony |

My homepage is Antenna Installation Sydney | Allied Antennas | Home Theatre | TV Aerial One of the member from google forums mentioned I had a two faulty urls which are w.alliedantennas.com.au and http://asdfasdfsadfasdfasdf.alliedantennas.com.au/ . Hi, All. I've only just come across this forum, and have been reading this thread with great interest. There seems to be a lot of people out there with good help and advice who are only too happy to pass it on, maybe it's not a completely dog eat dog world afterall. My wife Janet Cooper and I run a small Patchwork and Quilting business in West Sussex in the UK. It's been going for quite a few years now, but this year I have decided I have got to drastically improve our web presence. Thanks for all the good advice, all I have to do know in knuckle down and try them out. BTW we use XCART 4.3 for our website, has anyone got any do's an don'ts on getting an XCART site crawled? Thanks again Alistair |

First of all thanks for all the helpful tips here. I did follow most of the SEO tips but theres something I cant quite understand. Google webmaster tools is showing me that it has visited 5 links out of 16, from my sitemap. I dont see which ones and I dont know why it hasnt crawled all links in the sitemap. My hope was that with uploading a sitemap Google would recrawl the domain because when I search for the site, I still get the old crawl results, from back before the site was even uploaded and only the webspace was reserved. So it seems Google indexes any domain that gets registered and in my case, that registration took place a good month before I even uploaded the site. Any ideas would be appreciated - http://alwayswindy.com |

I'm dealing with the same situation as leesteve -- with Yahoo Site Solution I submitted my URL to Google, but don't think the site has been crawled & have been unable to figure out how to get it verified, as it doesn't appear to give access to the underlying html or even the ability to upload a file. I'll try linking to this & other blogs and if I make any headway, maybe I'll get inspired to try some of the other suggestions here! www.terraendeavors.net |

Hi, Google can crawl your site through various means, but as a matter of fact I would advice you to do it through the search engine optimization. This entails that while building your site make sure you give proper attention to the meta tag line in the HTML found within the head (<head> </head>). You have to get a researched number of targeted keywords relating to your site contents. After which, there are set of codes you need to input within the <head> </head> region of your html tags that will enable google crawl. I may sound technical, yes, only website developers like me understands what i am saying. in fact, this is beyond the scope of ordinary website designer. When properly done, you can determine the number of days you want Google to crawl your site. |

Hey, just a couple of suggestions, create a robot.txt, and then create an xml sitemap. A good place to start with this is google webmaster tools. you can also place this into the souce code of your site. <meta name="Revisit-after" content="7 days"><meta name="Rating" content="GENERAL"> Google is also hungry for new content, you can optimise your site with google by uploading new content to your site regulary. Plus if its appropriate to your site google loves video. Just some suggestions mate. -J- |

I posted a few weeks ago, followed some of the basic instructions, and within a few days google had crawled my site, so for those who are new and reading the posts it does work, just complete the steps and have a bit of patience. thanks again for all the good info. Thanks to all who contributed to this thread and provided the numerous ideas. I used iweb for my site and haven't figured out how to add the meta tag that google wants embedded. Does anyone know how to do that? Thanks!

I'm having the same issue - I checked my cache and it said that the last crawl was Jan 22 - I'm hoping that it will crawl it tomorrow since that would be 30 days. I tried to go through their Google verification process but even though I added their special meta tag, it still said it didn't see the tag. It may be in the wrong section but I use iWeb and iWeb SEO to control my tags - I'm not actually creating them in html so I don't know how to control the sections they get published to. Thanks for the tips on this page! Melissa Pahl www.melissapahl.com |

So many great ideas shared here as well as information! Thank you all so much for sharing... I am new to this forum and will be checking back often... At the moment I am working on SEO for my own website and have started from the ground up. Lots of hard work... and I must agree... Google indexing can be confusing! Once more for any skeptics... most of the posts in this forum are on target. Google searches this forum often so if you include a link to your site here Google should index your site fairly quickly. If you set up Webmaster tools and submit your sitemap as others suggest you can also use the Webmaster tools to check for links to your site and you may soon see this warriorforum.com url. Thanks again for the accurate intel. Ben Roberts Jr |
