I have been experimenting with different popups on my website Quick Start To Internet Marketing: About and inadvertantly created a double popup ![]() I have looked at it a few times and kinda like the concept, but I am not sure if it will put visitors off... I would be grateful of any opinions on the subject...the popup appears after a few seconds .....then....... thanks. Graham |

Are you looking for a business opportunity that’s property related? Well, the answer may be closer than you think – right on your doorstep perhaps. In fact, there’s money to be made anywhere you see a property for sale. Let me explain… | |

Hi Graham, I love you website. Your First popup (the optin form) is not bothering me at all. The second popup is apearing on every page, that's annoying. The idea of waiting a few seconds is very good, i did the same on my site. You did a great job. Tanny |

Yes... Oh wait,... I should go look at them first. hahaha ![]() BRB I like the big one that shows up first. If it was me I would change the wording and not use "News Letter" in the description. To me (and others) newsletters are getting old. People are looking for things that will create action for them right now. The CB Pirate is annoying. Probably because I tried the $1.00 trial and couldn't cancel fast enough. A number one goal should be to build your list. Popups should be doing that for you. After people are on your list thats when you can start selling to them. But not until after you have built some trust. Just my opinions Steve |

Thanks for your valuable feedback Tanny. Yes I understand what you mean about being annoying. I'll go and play some more. Graham |

Stephen you are right! I should change the wording about "Newsletter" The Clicbank Pirate popup was just me experimenting with the new script. The script is a floating action popup which you can make appear anywhere on the site - it's prime objective is as you say to capture leads which is what I will be doing with it. Thanks a million for your feedback - valuable as ever. Cheers, Graham Quote:

I hate all popups and popunders! I would NEVER ever use them on my site, because as a consumer I understand what a nuissance they are! Likewise, I hate those stupid sites that pop up the thing when you try to leave the site taht says WAIT A live agent would like to make you a one time only offer! Or whatever. Man if I leave the page I'm gone! Those are definitely two things I would certainly NOT use. |

Yes, it is annoying. The optin popup is too big and I need to scroll down to find the close button. |

Hi Graham, I like the timed-delay of your pop up. It gave me some time to start reading and get connected to your site and then phased gently in at an appropriate time. Good job. Your site looks great. Best regards, Stone Evans |

Hi zhuuraan and BurgerBoy, I was thought the same as you when I just started. I said I will never put a pop up on my site, because i hate them. But the reality is different a few months ago I decided to give it a try and installed a fly in ad on my home page. The results are amazing, 90% of my subscribers come from this fly-in ad. What I m trying to say, there is a difference between what you like and what you audience like, an you should try to find the middle ground and work with it. Tanny. |

I myself have become used to popups as an over used method. Almost every site has one in one form or another. However, they do work to some degree. I think the trick is to use the ones that aren't a conventional design. I agree with zhuuraan as far as the "agent waiting to talk" popups, because they are harder to get rid of. The techniques I think work the best on a website are: Peel Away- noticeable, attracts curiosity, but not blatant and intrusive Time Delay- As Stone said, gives your visitor a chance to get involved before starting with an ad. Nothing I dislike more than having to close a large pop up before seeing a site I am looking forward to! Footer Ads- Sneaky, sometimes appear without notice until you want to scroll down the page. I recently added one to my site (with time delay) and have seen very good results, basically gone from one sign up a week to 5-6 a week. Check it out: Business Budgeting Tips Exit pop ups- Are good if they offer a "Special Bonus" that will draw a visitor back in. Or a bonus offer. I use one on my blog that offers a gift for a mention on Twitter. Kills two birds with one stone . To view it, visit my blog, then leave: Beyond Budgeting BlogGraham, I don't find your pop ups to be intrusive, as most are. I think you'll see good results from them. One note; I would make the first pop up a bit smaller, as the close button is hard to find at first, and might (stress might) result in people leaving your site. Though it should be noted that I have 3 tool bars on my browser window, so my page view is smaller than most... The proof is in the pudding. If it works, leave it be. Aaron |

Hi Graham, I like the timed delay a lot, but the clickbank pirate on everypage you open is a bit annoying. Maybe just on your most veiwed pages or on your entry and exit pages. Mark |

Hi Graham, I find the first pop up OK but the second one on every page is very annoying. Maybe different popups on different pages would be less distracting (with time delay of course...) Just my oppinion. Prudence |

Thank you all for your feedback - it has been really helpful. I have now taken down the Clicbank Pirate popup as I couldn't get it to appear only on one page......so annoying! I have added a new lead capture popup to Online Home Business Tips it will be interesting to see how this one performs. Thanks again Graham |
