It is legal to copy an article from most article directories, as long as you also copy the resource box and put the author's links there.

There is lots of misconception about 'duplicate' content - If it was true the way they say it is, then all those directories that we submit articles to would be a harm instead of help to us, right? Because we all submit articles to multiple directories right? duplicate right? yes and no -

It is not duplicate content that is bad, it is when you scrape a site without permission, when you copy something, that is plagerism, (if you don't have express permission and do not give the true author credit), when you copy a whole site. That is the bad 'duplicate' content that won't help and actually may hurt you.

NEVER copy something where it specifically says you don't have permission and ALWAYS give the author credit - name, keyword, URL links, whatever they require - then it is a different story.

It is much better however to post your own content. - you can buy cheap PLR articles and even get them free from PLR deals (private label rights) and you have the right to put yourself as the author and use your own URL - they give you license to do this.

Google "PLR" or "private label rights articles' - go to the WSO forum for cheap packages - you can get them completely free just for signing up for free programs and newsletters - you just have to look around.

Having said that they are not great quality and you should probably add some content to them that is unique, (new title, a few sentences of your own) and edit them for spelling and grammar - I realize this is not easy for people who speak English as a second language.

I still think the best thing is if you can only write a paragraph of your own in broken English (for your blog), but you have good keywords and you put your own site URL - it is free, and it is best because YOU did it YOURSELF.

I once heard - don't be afraid or think you are not good enough --- go ahead and write a lousy article - write a stupid ad - you will get better with practice -

JUST DO IT!

Pat gave you great advice.

The only thing I wanted to add is that duplicate content is only a factor if you have more than one page on your own site that contains the exact same content.

For example: Same title, description, and content body. If two pages on your site are identical, then that's considered duplicate content, and it will hurt you.

Posting identical content on your site that appears on a completely different site is okay, provided you follow what Pat stated above.
