Oh no - anything with Windows I wait until all the catastrophies are debugged - believe it or not sometimes until the next version. (always staying just 1 version behind)

I am tempted of course because it is said to be so secure - I have not heard many bad things yet - a few that have had problems with Win7 but nothing like for example Vista or IE8.

One thing I don't like is Win 7 forces you to have IE8 - I don't use IE period (crashes my system) and still have IE7 because of all the horror stories about IE8 -

I am that superstitious because even if you don't use IE it is part of the operating system 'suite' and just the presence on my system makes me even more nervous than crashing IE7...

I will probably wait until I get a new computer that comes with Windows 7 rather than to deal with any possible repercussions of upgrading. I am just too busy to deal with something that can go so wrong that controls so much...

Anybody else done the upgrade yet?

Thanks but no thanks.

Again, just don't want to deal with the possible problems like I have had messing with IE in the past like not being able to connect to the internet.

Nope, not going there...

Will just wait for a new computer and let it all come in one matching piece with warranty service.

LOL

(wish I was braver)

Patrician you are very right in your cautious approach. In the beta and RTM stages all the good points about the OS are hyped up and anything bad is passed up as "hey its just a beta/RTM". The final release is the time when an OS is really put to the test. A lot sensible to not force an upgrade when the existing OS is working just fine.

I haven't even upgraded to Vista. Probably won't upgrade to Windows 7 either unless I buy a brand new computer with it already installed. And, the only way that will happen is if I buy a laptop, and who knows when that will be.

Until then I'll just keep updating the hardware in my custom built desktop and run XP. It's fast and trouble free (for the most part ).

Thanks for the posts on Windows 7. I, like most on this thread, am skeptical about any new OS until the bugs are worked out. I agree with Alan about having upgraded to Vista on my main computer. Still using XP and don't have any major issues with it. I have Vista on a desktop but am going kicking and screaming to that platform. And to laugh at myself - I am currently trying to switch to the MAC way of life.
