Default Blog Vs Article Writing

I have a few question regarding blogs and article writing. I have been trying to create a decent blog and also write some articles. I am a member of content crooner so I submit the articles through there. I only have about a dozen articles. I have been changing my articles by 30% and adding them to my blog. Is this correct or should I be blogging about different topics?

My other question is I'm thinking about setting a an artcile page attached to my site with the beginning of the article clicking on more to open the whole article. Will this help build traffice for my site? Or would this be too much duplication since I am already submitting the articles to content crooner?

A neat trick an SEO specialist taught me is how to get a double backlink.

You publish your article on whatever directory. You open the article up there once it posts and get the exact address of the directory/category/article path.

Then you go to your blog and you put a paragraph from the article there. At the bottom you say 'To read the entire article, click here' and then you put the address of the article from the article directory where you published it.

Of course both the article and the blog have a link to your home page in the author bio box/signature.

So now with one article you have a link from the article directory to your site. You have a blog with a link to your site and to the article directory.

Bottom line it is fine to use part of the same content. If you publish the entire article on the blog however you will only get a backlink for the first time it is published and indexed by the SEs.

To be even safer it might be a good idea to use a slightly different title for each -

Blog Vs Article Writing?

the popularity of weblogs, or blogs, these days, many webmasters are beginning to wonder if article writing has become a thing of the past. Used to be, for promotion purposes webmasters would deposit articles with links into web directories. This was done in the hope that the article would be displayed on many different websites with links leading back to their own. For the most part, this worked and it worked well for building backward links and higher ranking in search engines. Is it still the way to go for promoting a website? The answer is--it depends.
Hi Crossy,

Could you elaborate? Why does it "depend?"

I'm sure there's many that would like to know more.

Well, you can check if your article is unique now or at least "unique enough" for your purposes with several online services , e.g. Copyscape Plagiarism Checker - Duplicate Content Detection Software .

As I outsourced my article writing ( why should I do that 100% myself when unique articles are available at ~1US$ each?) I make this test always as an obligation for freelance article writers.

Pat: that is a very good idea, actually. I'm currently working on a content portfolio & that sounds like a brilliant idea!
