Default Tool To Identify Sites Using "nofollow" Linking Attribute

Hi,

Please, is there a tool that can identify if a particular site is or is not using the "nofollow" linking attribute?

Or is there any other way one can identify this?

Hi Dele,
If you use FireFox, there is an Add-On tool called: SEO for firefox, you can install it, then in the tools tab > SEO for FF > options > check the nofollow box and it will highlight all the links with the nofollow attribute.

Another Firefox plugin is called "Search Status", and amongst other things it will also highlight nofollow links if you tell it to.

You can find it on the Mozilla site, in the plugins section, or you can go to their website:
SearchStatus | Firefox SEO Toolbar Extension

Another, harder way is to select "view page source" in your browser and look through the html tags. I prefer just using a plugin...but looking at html code is a good way to learn it.

Best Regards, Georgetta

The easiest way for me to check for the no follow is just open up the source code and do a search for "no follow" nofollow. If it's not found, it's a possible good place to place a link.

Thank you Allen for your answer.

I will try all options so that I do not waste my time, regarding getting backlinks with sites using this "nofollow" attribute.

I am aware some of these sites may still be useful for traffic though and will take that into consideration.

Hi Tanny, those tools will work if someone has Firefox. The majority of people however do not have it yet. If someone does have Firefox the easiest to use Firefox extension is NoDoFollow. I have tried them all and this one is fast and simple, NoDoFollow

For those who do not have Firefox there are several places to go to find DoFollow only sites.
1. Do Follow Directory
2. Blogs that Follow
3.DoFollow-Sites That Really Do Follow
4.Do Follow Blog Directory

Thank you Tanny.

I have already gone to the site you indicated and am already installing firefox as I am ready to do this if this is the only way to have this add-on to identify these sites.

I am not trying to identify all sites with "dofollow"attribute as indicated by Stephen but rather trying to identify if a particular site I am on has this attribute.

But the links given by Stephen are still useful for other purposes.
So, thanks Stephen.

Thank you once again Tanny.

What This Amazing Software Does:
Identifies Wordpress blogs with the 'nofollow' tag in the comments field in ANY niche you choose
Saves you time and effort from searching for blogs manually to leave comments on and building backlinks
Shows you the Page Rank of each of the individual blog posts itself and home page of the blogs
Displays the Alexa ranking of each blog (so you know what's the amount of traffic the blog receives)
Tells you if you have left a comment previously on the blog so you can track your link building efforts with much ease.
Allows you to save your findings and results for more effective tracking/analysis in the future.

Firefox's Search Status can be buggy at times. So be sure to double check properly before you decide if its a dofollow site. Getting information from dofollow directories is very recommendable because the dirty job has been done for you already.

Sorry I can't resist this, my blog is a dofollow blog.. You comment.. I follow! So feel to leave some comments and get a PR3 backlink.

Would someone tell me what is a "nofollow" Link ?? ...... and most of all how will it affect my articles, blogs, or PIPS.

Also Tanny I downloaded the Firefox browser and the SEO Plug-in and I tried your suggestion you gave to Dele as stated below:

Hi Dele,

Tanny

However I don't get a "nofollow box" to check in options .... please tell me what I did wrong.

Thanks for any help on this.

By the way ..... I think I'm gonna like FireFox.

Hi Nat,

Ok first of all I would help you understand one very important factor of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and that is to get quality backlinks aka inbound links. The more backlinks you have , the more "votes" you get for your website in the Search Engines' eyes.

The DoFollow attribute allows you to get a backlink to your website when you post something on the dofollow web/blog.

For example,
You visit a dofollow blog and you leave a constructive comment, you get a backlink to your site!

OR

You participate in a forum with dofollow signatures, you leave a post and you get a backlink.

Thus, most people are eager to find out which website, blog or forums practise the DoFollow attribute in search for a backlink to the own website. Hence the birth of such tools!

Additional Note: 1 backlink from a PR3 website/blog is much better than getting 10 backlinks from PR0 or PR1 websites/blogs.

Lastly, all the best to your SEO work...

Hi Nathaniel, look in the very bottom right of your screen and you should see SEO, the O looks like a world or something. Just click on that small spot and you can turn it off and on. When it is turned on all the NoFollow links will be a dark red. That's why I now use NoDoFollow, their links are light red for nofollow and light blue for dofollow, it gives you both and you can still easily read the page. But any way, click the SEO and it will work.

Also, I made a list up there for those interested that will locate DoFollow blogs. They make the task much more simple.

Steve

there is also another plugin around called nodofollow. it highlights dofollow links blue and no follow red, but if you have SEO for ff you don't need it.

Thanks to all your replies. This has been very helpful.

Another thing if I might add .... with this forum around it is almost impossible to stay discouraged and I dare say to even fail at this business. I visit this forum on a daily basis to learn and to get to know the "who's who" .....

I can actually see myself making that 5 grand a month by just staying focused, reading post, asking questions and most of all taking action.

Thanks to everyone
